Can STEEM Monsters Ditch The Animation Drivel and Be One of The Fastest Games Ever......

in #game7 years ago

Just saw an old video titled "Life Inside a Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine" which was released in 2015. Things have evolved a lot since that time. For an example STEEM didn't even exist at the time. One thing about these mining operations is despite the commitment and monetary gains, they are inherently meaningless. Byteball (and GridCoin) at least use their coins as an incentive to donate computing power to medical research. But coins like Bitcoin just waste a lot of energy for the sake of security.

When you look at the big picture, none of that will have helped humanity that much in the long run. I'd say I could say the same about a bunch of animations eating up a large portion of a work you do. Now what if I say that these animation parts also greatly involve repetition.

I'm Talking About @steemmonsters

Some people may not mind this. But I'm almost getting sick of seeing the same animation over and over again delaying the results that have already been decided. I''m still hanging ot to win my Daily Quests. I even got another Epic card today:

There really aren't any mid-game interactions. You select your team and then find yourself a opponent. then the match plays out and you get the results. This is how it looks on the blokchain level:

Who Wants To Play Quick Monsters.......

  • What if the results were given right after you get matched with an opponent with watching the match play out as an additional feature......
  • What if you could autoplay "N" number of matches with the option to cancel the loop......

These two things can easily reduce the time spent on @steemmonsters by at least 50% while providing a fast and efficient gameplay experience. This may not be the best approach for many players (especially the mainstream crowd). But a stat based game that is getting played out in milliseconds has a kind of geeky touch to it too. If someone can make an interface to make this happen without the animation drivel and with an elegant but minimalist design, I'd be saving myself a lot of time to play more games or mind some other business.

Hopefully I'm not alone and someone would make it happen :-)

I get where you're coming from, but at the same time Steem Monsters obviously wants you do be spending that "50%" with them. It helps retain users.
Too quick and you risk people getting bored. Of course, too slow carries the same risk.

Perhaps a settings toggle? Like, switch on to skip animations. Maybe not even all the animations, just some of the more tedious ones?

Also, if I recall correctly, isn't there a button to skip right to the end results of a battle? Wouldn't you just use that 🤔

There is a button to skip to results. But getting there takes some time. You need to get past a bunch of animation to click that button. That's why I'm wishing for a separate interface (or even just some game mode toggle to have quick fights)

Lots of mainstream audiences could get confused with too many variations. Just a minimalist website will do well for a small niche IMHO.

let me think . . . how about NO.
I like the animation . . . and the bells and whistles.

Everybody go their different tastes. It's just the front end that's going to change. I'm actualy expecting multiple front ends for @steemmonsters in the future.
