👒Strawhat Reviews: PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (FPS Update)

in #game7 years ago

Hey everyone, 😊

I have not made any game reviews lately since I have mostly been spending time outside this summer. Now that I'm back in school I have some more time at home to play and of course to Steem more which I also am excited to do.

I have wanted to do a review of this game for a long time now. The game I have chosen to review is PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS and since the game received a big update a while back I figured it was a good time for a review.

For those of you that don't know PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is a online multiplayer battle royale video game. It exploded upon release and sold six million copies during it's first four months on the market and last week it beat League of Legends on Twitch. It was launched as an early-access game in March 2017 and still is in that stage.

Gameplay

PUBG is a game where up to one hundred players fight in a so called battle royale. This means a large scale, last man standing type of deathmatch. So all the players fight to be the last one alive and by doing that they win the game. The game can be played in different size groups as well as solo where you're on your own and everyone is an enemy.

When you start a game you load into a kind of "waiting room" where you wait for all the players to connect and load the game. The round starts with all of the players in a plane from where you can choose to parachute out at any time while the plane is over the map. Upon landing you start with no gear beyond regular clothes that don't affect the actual gameplay. Weapons, ammo and other equipment can be found throughout the map and players rush to get these as fast as possible. Players that have been eliminated can be looted for their gear.

Every few minutes the playable area on the map begins to shrink down towards a random circle that is placed on the map. Players are meant to make their way to this area when it appears and from there it shrinks. Outside of this area is a blue wall that does damage to you if you are in it so it's important to stay in the so called safe zone. This forces all of the players to gather in a confined area that becomes smaller and smaller. You can also choose to play either first-person or third-person in this game but recently an update came wich added "first-person only servers" and that is what I want to talk about today.

Thoughts on the update

I heard about the update from a friend since I hadn't been online on Steam for at least 3 weeks and decided to try it out. I haven't played the game for more than 9 hours but have played other battle royale games in the past and I am familiar with the gameplay. Since I hadn't played the game in such a long time I not only got to see the "first-person only servers", I also noticed a great decrease in lag and loved it. I have now played it a little more and made it to 4th place as my best so I have yet to win a game. The game is a lot of fun on it's own but if you have a friend or friends to play it with it's more fun. The first few games ended almost instantly upon landing on the ground since my aim was all over the place because I hadn't used my mouse in such a long time but I got it back after a while. The game can be incredibly frustrating at times and for that I think it's not for everyone as it can make you loose your temper very easily but at the same time being so fun that you continue playing anyways.

I decided it was easier to get an image of how the game looks in you head if you see it yourselves so I recorded a video. This video was recorded with Geforce Experience and it was my first time recording with that software. It worked just as it should and it was very simple and easy to use. I used VLC to cut the video and I did not know that this was possible before seeing a random tutorial about it on the web. To learn how to do this click here.

As for the video, there's not any action in this clip other than looting items but it gives you a pretty good view of how it looks and works. Here it is:

As you can see it does have a really great look to it with the Unreal 4 engine. If anyone wants to play with me you can add me on Steam and find my profile here.

I decided to make a rating system for my reviews where I rate games from 1-10. After long consideration I decided to give PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS 8/10 👒. That's 8/10 straw hats. You can see these as stars or any other symbol you usually link to ratings!

I am going to get a better microphone and maybe even a camera so I can start making the reviews in video format as well! And now that DTube has risen it seems like a good time for that.

I hope you enjoyed this review as much as I did making it! I have a couple other new games that I will be reviewing in the near future so stay tuned for that.

I also had a fun idea that I thought of trying out here. I recently started using snapchat and am still pretty new to it so I thought I would share my Snapcode to anyone that uses it and wants to add me! So if you are a frequent Snapchat user and have something cool to show me than here you go and if you don't then add me anyway! 😃:

Will be fun to see if I get any adds!

Recently one of the best reviews I have seen sofar. I'm enjoying playing PUBG myself . I jumped up every Zombie Survival Game hype sofar. But the gaming mode created with H1Z1 is really fun to play. Just hop in to game and shoot someone and try to be last man standing.

Thank you that means a lot! I've played H1Z1 a lot more than PUBG but lately only the latter. H1Z1 can also be really really frustrating sometimes tho :D

I started with War Z it was a decent game with SHITTY AS DEVS !

lol 8/10 strawhats, nice.

I now see the snapchat logo as a person with a strawhat on. Cannot unsee. xD

:D lol hahaha yep cannot be unseen

@acidyo are you a upvote whale i want to use you for upvote :o so much powerful u are

Now that was good the see that video you went too fast hahah :D just collected everything :D

Hahaha yeah :D maybe it was a little too fast

Nice game...i will find it for donwload..., great post...have a nice day..., and have a nice weekend @strawhat ..greetings

Oh, you do game reviews too? Nice! PUBG is something I've been really, really wanting to try. Seems like it's what everyone has been playing lately, had a friend telling me about how fun it is just a few days ago. I'll just have to settle with watching people stream it until it goes on sale though, haha.

Good job on the review, by the way!

Yea I've done a couple in the past :) you should try it out. But the price has been constantly rising I think so yeah hopefully they have some kind of sale soon :) thanks!

I'm glad to see I followed someone who also does game reviews, I've been getting writing them over the past few weeks myself :P I'm working on one right now actually. And, yeah, even if the price didn't go up I'd still wait. I'm not currently working due to health reasons, so I have to be pretty careful with my money, haha.

don't forget to scream as loud as you can in the lobby, sing the pokemon theme song, or play music.

The secret to winning is being as cancerous as possible

Haha, yeah! That seems to be the most important part every game :D

I've played few times with my friends. It's fun, I give it 8/10 too :d

Cool :) you should add me so we can play a game :D

I love gaming ,, thank you for this interessing review:)

I'm absolutely loving Playerunknown's Battleground! My brother got me into the game the past few weeks and now I play it quite regularly. When you play solo, this game definitely gets a little bit nerve racking haha.

Good review..... now i got to try this game :P
