Video games has no doubt become one of the most populous media in the world with no sign of slowing down. Many players enjoyed them so much that they wish they can make their own games. Yes i got my own inspiration for making games too from the games i played and a very good example is God Of War! which happens to be my all-time favorite. Players also got inspired by the fact that some developers became millionaires from making games, of course i want to be a millionaire too! I know you're probably reading this post because you have developed a strong passion for making games just like me 8 years ago, so here are some tips that helped me get started.

Seek knowledge:
Like an African proverb Not to know is bad; Not to desire to know is worse. first of all you need to get a hang of the field you're entering. Follow game developers and game blogs, take game development courses on udemy, cousera and there are also sites that give tutorials for free, join game developers Facebook groups and very importantly ask questions.

Choose a part :
There are many different skills required to make a game. programmers writes the scripts, artists create the arts, animators gives life to the arts etc. as much as it is not a bad thing to be a jack of all trade, its best to be a master in one of the skills because it can greatly reduce the leaning curve and with the huge number of game developers out there, its easy to get people to fill the other roles for you.

Get familiar with the game engines :
In the past video game development used to be very difficult and time consuming even for a small project because developers do not only develop the game, they also have to build the engine the game is going to run on which is usually a huge software but don't fret some super heroes, The Batman, Black Panther, Captain America and Spider Man of game developers have saved us all from that epidemic by developing game engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, Cry Engine, Godot and many more. all you have to do is get familiar with the engines and start satisfying your curiosity.

Learn to code :
Although there are game engines that lets you make games without a single line of code but from experience i recommend you learn to code so as not to limit yourself. The programming language you will need to learn depends on the game engine you settled for. e.g Unity supports C# and JavaScript, Unreal Engine supports C++ and the visual programming language aka blueprint.

Lastly:
Giving up is the easy part and as much as you might want to give up on the journey remember the saying that a smooth see can never make a skillful sailor. The hardtimes are part of the process as they force you to learn more about it. don't fret! see you at the Top!
