The Warrior Ethic
I wrote a post not too long ago about the warriors mindset and what it means to me.
I analogize the way that I approach working out, reading, writing and investing to the way that I believe everyone should live life --> because we, as humans are designed in a certain manner.
Over thousands and thousands and millions of years, we've evolved into what we are today.
And what I believe to be at the fundamental core of being human is the warrior ethic --> the desire to fight to survive and to survive to fight another day.
To progressively approach battle without fear of failing, but with the knowledge that the battle will teach you about life and how to improve for the next battle.
Whether you're reading or going to the gym, you can benefit from this line of thinking.
Even if you're starting a business or investing...
This applies very broadly indeed:
Warriors do not fear the numbers of their enemy. They do not quiver at the sight of their enemy, but rather, they seek out their enemy with the desire to fight them and learn how to fight even better --> to improve their own skills.
Whether you're battling a business deal or battling a book that you're reading: wrestling with ideas and seeking out hard ideas to think about is the surest path to becoming smarter and better at life!
Seek the hard path when you can, it is likely that that is the path which contains the most wisdom!
You nailed it. Could not have said it better, myself. I have a friend who was a narcotics officer in the Houston Police Department for over 20 years. He said there are 3 kinds of officers. When a gun goes off one thrird Immediatly take cover, one third go the other way and one third goes to the sounds of the guns. He has actually been in a number of shoot outs when things went sideways. Evreyone thinks they are the one to go towards the guns. Everyone is a hero in their own mind. Until the gun goes off, you will never really know who you are.
