Getting Set Up for Development

So, I currently have a laptop with a couple of problems...

The screen is damaged on the right hand side and the centre half the pixels in the checkerboard are stuck on.

The keyboard needs to be replaced also, although it is serviceable at this point, the left control keycap is lost because the scissors mechanism broke, teensy little plastic tabs snapped off. Plus it is UK layout which is annoying generally.

The screen I have seen new replacements for $44, I figure probably around the same for the keyboard. So I am going to save my earnings for a bit to get it organised.

What I want to build:

I have discussed the ideas I have for the Agora network system, but after learning that I can write one code, in python, and it can run on all platforms.

I am planning at first a simple email and contact info database blockchain, that integrates Bit message, @xeroc's piston, and then also an integration with BitTorrent for attachments, and for configuring and operating channels and mailing lists more simply than the clunky but message interface.

I know there is development coming for on-witness messaging, but I think a simple system built on existing distributed network systems leverages a network that is already big, I don't need to have more than two devices for testing, unlike if I was building those components from scratch.

I want to build a bandwidth backed cryptocurrency, but that will require a lot more work, and the need for message and file sharing interface linked also to the Steem blockchain is quite urgent, and I think this is a fast path to it, and that from there it can grow into something a lot bigger, because it facilitates off record discussion, needed for developers in particular.
