The science fiction of today is the reality of tomorrow. When I think about all the advancements that humanity has made in the past few decades, I am always reminded of that saying.

Just take a look at our lives today and what the average human is capable of. Think about all the things that are just common for us that didn't even exist until a few decades ago. And think about the things that are reality today that were possible only in the realm of science fiction.

There are just too many to count. What is amazing is that we are constantly bringing out inventions from fiction into reality and this will only continue and keep amazing us as we advance more into the future.

It is really thrilling to think about all the things that we will be able to do and have not long from today and how that will change human life. Here are some predictions about the future that many believe will come true.

Robots As Common As Smartphones

Everyone has a smartphone. It's simply a no brainer in the modern world and yet, they didn't even exist meaningfully about a decade ago. And now, we can't even do without them as they've become kind of an integral part of life.

I think the same is going to happen for robots. If you've seen the recent videos from Boston Dynamics and other companies, you will know that they are rapidly progressing and not so long from now, we are going to be begin seeing them everywhere.

Robots could become as common as smartphones in that, every househould would have one that would take care of all the chores, your day to day planning, your security needs, and who knows one day, even your emotional needs. Human life would be augmented in so many ways if this were to really happen someday.

Nanobots Keeping You Healthy

Robots won't only be useful in their bigger forms but they will also be insanely useful and important in their nano forms. I am talking about nanobots that could one day swim in swarms within our bodies, taking care of all our health and fitness needs.

Imagine nanobots repairing any cells that need repairing and fighting off any bacteria, virus, fungi or any other organism before they could even make you sick. Imagine nanobots keeping everything well oiled and functioning up to the mark.

We will witness a totally new era of health and fitness and diseases could be a thing of the past. Not only that, we could also prolong our lives to a large extent if this were to ever be real.

Living On Other Worlds

This one could take a while but it seems pretty inevitable at this point thanks to the sheer amount and pace of innovation in aerospace technology. Within the next ten years, there are talks about setting up a base or two on the moon and within the next two to three decades, there could be a base on Mars.

Then as our space technologies become even more advanced and cheaper, we could transition from a permanent presence in these worlds to self sustaining human colonies, and over a longer period of time, we might end up terraforming these celestial bodies to our liking.

Sure this is a multi century project but one that's bound to happen in my opinion. Humanity becoming a multi planetary species would be such a wonderful and amazing thing to witness and it would be a tesament to our human will and curiosity.
