Czech (G)Kimle – The Young Saruman Met With Old Friends (Across Several Dimensions)
Traditional end of the season
After the long and competitive season, players don’t want to put aside their cleats just like that. That’s why the best fun tournament in Czech Republic in Ultimate Frisbee is organized just 2 weeks after the European finals by FUJ. After a number of serious articles let’s unwind by a presentation of what fun means to Ultimate players.
The party
The most important thing about such a tournaments is that winning the party is as prestigious as winning the whole tournament. I guess it’s not necessary to mention that by winning the former, the difficulty of the latter exponentially increases.
This year our good friend and teammate Gimli had his b-day exactly at the tournament. The name of the tournament is ordinarily Kimle, but this time in honour of Gimli it was renamed to Gimle and thus its theme was selected. Beings from all around the middle-earth shall meet and party together. And respectable amount of such beings actually arrived! Let’s have a look.
The head organizer of the whole tournament was the mighty Sauron. His all-seeing eye was passively controlling all the activity, but unlike normally, he didn’t abuse his powers.
Next to the mighty Sauron you can see powerful druid Myšilov. Those of you who that have actually read some of the fantasy sagas, might wonder, what the fuck was Myšilov doing in the middle-earth (and that he drastically changed his wardrobe too). Well to that I can only say that Myšilov has probably over-taken his “medications” and decided to roam other dimensions. The peaceful middle-earth we have created wouldn’t dare to say no to that anyway!
Myšilov was not the only dimension traveller that weekend. A pack of sharks have arrived too. Now let me explain why. In Czech language the “Middle-earth” is “Středozem” and “Mediterranean” (sea) is “středozemní”. You do see where the misinformation originated right :P?
We all have been taken care of unknown entities that ran the “Tavern of the jumping pony”. No one knew who they were, but they got the job done!
You could have seen my transformation into “Saruman the Young” In my previous articles. Firstly I created the [staff](https://steemit.com/crafting/@fingersik/from-fingersik-to-saruman-the-young-in-two-days-pt-1) and then I [finalized the transformation](https://steemit.com/crafting/@fingersik/from-fingersik-to-saruman-the-young-in-two-days-pt-2)(EDIT: THE LINKS SHOULD TOTALLY NOT BE BROKEN BECAUSE THEY ARE CORRECTLY DONE! SORRY FOR THAT). On the tournament we have met with Gandalf and we decided to put our disagreements aside for the time being
Oh and Radagast came over to say hi too!
Luckily Myšilov didn’t forget his accordion in the Witcher’s dimension and provided the gathering with an instrumental music (with help of other volunteers of course).
The effect was grandious!
The game time
With the morning sun all the mythical beings had to tap into their deepest energy reserves to make it to the field. The tireless hobbits (among many others) managed to do so…
But they were hunted by ruthless Nazguls.
Also the pack of sharks didn’t swim over alone. They have brought fearless scuba-divers for an epic derby match.
The divers were heroically diving for the disc into the hands of the sharks (lol), but I have no idea what the outcome of the Mediterranean derby was.
Oh and let me not forget the elves with their fancy moves. They came too!
Some of the players were boring, but at least they tried to hit the disc with something less casual than the hands.
And that is it. 2 (for some of us 3) parties and 2 game days. The further in the chain we got, the harder it all was. But since this is mainly about fun, we all were winners. I hope I managed to convey the image of what fun means to us Ultimate Frisbee players. Competitiveness, fun, love – We’ve got it all!
