RE: MemeLogic - Your Friday Dose

in #funny6 years ago

Last summer, when I had too much time and nowhere to go, I read. Among other things I read "The Signal and the Noise" by Nate Silver and "Misbehaving" by Richard Thayer back to back. Silver has written the ultimate predictions and stats book, and shows expressly that Economists and Economic Theory makes the worst predictions of any group on earth. Includes Weathermen and Political Pundits.

Thayer, who won the Nobel for Economics in September explains why. Because nothing has changed in 100 years, and Economic theory holds that all individuals will always make the best possible choice for themselves.

For the record: Thayer is not a distinguished professor in Economics at Chicago University. He is a distinguished professor of behavioral theory at CU. The Econ department won't have him because he does not subscribe to Kensyian Economics.

My point: Econ professors are spouting shit about shit that they don't know shit about, while not being able to predict the Economy for shit.

Otherwise, it's all good :) Thanks Mork. You made my day.
