Junk Mail vs Spam Emails

in #funny6 years ago

Remember the days of snail mail, every piece of junk mail would come in paper form? pony-express-sign.jpg

Then we got the internet, and junk mail exploded.... But we of course found a way around that, with filters and firewalls that send it all to the trash. I personally have noticed that flyers in my mail box are way up this last year, and wondering if advertisers are going back to hard copies that you actually have to throw away. But, on the other hand, I do notice a lot more junk mail getting throw to me also. At least the hard copy junk mail is stuff I use, and not all these foreign dating services, make money from home, and some I don't even mention.

This brings the question, which Junk mail pollutes the earth more? Hard copies or spam? The easy answer is hard copies, until you look into it. Most of the flyers are recyclable, and are made of recyclable material. So you obviously have the power to make them, and for trash trucks to pick up the recyclable containers, but what about the power spam mail uses. You don't think about it but computers are always drawing power, and somewhere something is drawing power to run all the filters and fire walls. Just another day and another problem, we should really be mad at Al Gore for the internet. ;-)

Sort:

Even though the hard copies are recyclable, the initial paper still has to come from trees, so the damage is already done.

Ya, but a lot of paper companies now plant a tree for everyone harvested, and trees die and grow that is the process of life. So if done in a eco friendly way there is no difference.

They do performing same work but i think junk mail which we can use for other purpose also. Even i use junk mail for writing purpose or for craft purpose. After use i can give them to recycle team. Even they don't reveal our privacy.

But spam mail is more horrible. We click and lost our personal data from your pc.

Ya, the viruses that you can get, I didn't even think of that. That is a great point.

posting is very meaningful to understand, I really like @bigram13

Great article and concept here.... Let me take it a step further, how about a blockchain solution, one that lets you own your mailbox and address, have total control... that way you can even charge people for your attention, and earn from junk mail

Nice post great article.

Technology is indeed evolving over the time ;)

Another cool thing.

Everything is a suck on the power grid. Even when things are turned off. As long as they are plugged into an outlet there is a certain amount of current that is flowing through that plug cord and wasting away to nothing. There will be a day when we wish we had so many trees to make all of this wasted paper. We should all remember the story of the Thneeds !!! Maybe we should all watch The Lorax and rethink our Cabon Footprint.
