Ithaqa Graphic Novel Fundition Update 22 First Steemit Exclusive Reward Incoming!
So I've talked with Theresa, and we will be commissioning an original work of art, centered around the character Hazel, (pictured in panels 2 and 5).
@bryan-imhoff is on The Council of Five, the group of 5 steemers who have most contributed to our fundraising, so he got to decide which character would be featured in the steemit the bonus reward! There's still time to get on the council if you want to help shape what the 75% funded steemit reward will be!
In equally important news, holy shit, I FINALLY FINISHED THE ROUGHT DRAFT FOR ISSUE 4!
I can not tell you enough, how deeply this rewrite has plagued me. The Issue 4 problems were so painful that they would even force me to go back and rewrite sections of issue 3. The issue is far from being done, I know my editor and I are going to probably change huge portions of it, but I truly can not convey to you how happy I am to have a complete rough draft again.
I ended up writing almost a completely new issue. That's not to say that I scrapped everything that was in my original version of #4, I've just inserted 36 pages into the space that stood between the original Issues 3 and 4.
Without going into too much detail, I think I solved a crucial problem the story had in the late game. Harvey Bolton (the WW1 deserter on the run), meets up with Mookie and the gang so late in the narrative (issue 5 or 6), that it wasn't believable that the main group would trust him in the final showdown.
They didn't get a chance to survive a crisis together, and therefore grow together. Harvey was a little like a deus ex machina, a guy who just showed up and knew things. Anyway, Issue 4 is weird a shit now, it took a lot of crazy turns, so we'll have to see what my editor Lisa, and my artist, Theresa have to say about it, haha.
Here is another page of the script from Issue 1, after this point, we'll be getting into more of the new pages that haven't been illustrated. Text that is bolded, means things that have changed.
