Fresh Salad, Indonesia-Style // Acar

Hope you guys are well! I am enjoying the last day of the long weekend, staying at home, not worrying the damn icy road, although tomorrow I will be a snail outside the house lol

Raise your hands if you are house hunting too.

We have been house hunting (well more to acreage hunting) for forever I feel, ever since we moved up North, but those house and economy bubbles that are hitting Canada don't seem to have an effect for us up North, prices still chokingly (yeah chokingly, not shockingly) crazy and am getting frustrated, 3 years of frustration to be exact :P

Anyone selling a 1/4 section for 10K? BWAHAHAHHAHAHA

Anyhoo...Today is #fruitsandveggiesmonday so I am sharing this fresh salad from Indonesia that is known as Acar, more to like fresh pickle actually.

Cuaca agak menghangat dan bikin salju-salju meleleh, namun sayangnya setiap malam hingga pagi tiba, kembali menjadi es, dan tentunya sana-sini jadi super licin, bahaya banget, bete dah hahaha

Hari Senin tuh merupakan harinya untuk ikutan di #fruitsandveggiesmonday -nya si @lenasveganliving, jadi hari ini aku mau berbagi resep Acar Bawang :D

#fruitsandveggiesmonday is a gathering by @lenasveganliving for those who'd like to share anything related to fruits and vegetables. You can also share of what you are making, if it has fruits and veggies in it, as long as it is plant-based/vegan.

This fresh salad can be served with almost any meals and fritters, in Indonesia. While normally it does not have snap peas in the mixture, my husband loves it with snap peas, so I always add snap peas in and it's very refreshing.

Here in the recipe :)

- 15 baby carrots, diced/sliced/grated
- 1 long cucumber, diced/sliced
- 50 snap peas, diced/sliced
- 1 small onion, diced/sliced
- 4 garlic, sliced
- 5 c water
- 6 tbsp each sugar, vinegar
- Himalayan salt to taste
- 4 bird eye chilies, leave whole
- Mix everything in a bowl, chill before serving

Sebenarnya ga kukasih resepnya pasti dah pada tau semua yak cara bikin acar hahaha Tinggal masukkin wortel serta timun ke air bercuka dan bergula, dengan sedikit garam, jadi deh.

Acar-ku agak berbeda karena aku tambahkan kacang kapri jenis snap peas, biar tambah kres-kres kalau digigit, enak banget deh, seger wkwkwkw

Ukurannya pun sebenarnya tergantung selera temankan. Tapi kalau mau ukuranku, tuh tengok disebelah, atau ikutin video dibawah ini yak

If you use cold water, you can have it right away, but chilled is awesome too, even only for 15-20 mins

Acar jadi salad 😂😂😂 bukannya pickles iihhh😀 bahasa inggrisku jangan didebat dah, modal kamus doang😂😂. Tambah bengkoang alias jicama lagi sedap nih say... btw, sambal matah nooh.. ibu2 dibelahan dunia yg lain pernah nyobain kagak yaa? Jadi pengen share sambal matah juga.. cuma nyari padanan kata ... nggak cocok aja pake sauce😁

Di LN, meski hanya sepiring potongan mentimun di beri sedikit garam, juga disebut salad.

Pickle untuk yang di fermentasi, jadi kalau acar kita lebih mengena di salad, bukan pickle 😊

Di bagian bahasa Inggris sudah disebutkan bahwa ini jg dikenal sebagai pickle di Indonesia 😊

😂😂😂 makanya jadi puyeng aku nyari padanan kata buat rujak, secara rujak bisa bikin goyang lidah kayak "salsa". Makasih mbak e penjelasannya 😉 aku ini bahasa inggrisnya pas2an banget .. pas bikin puyeng dan pas bikin ketawanya. Jadi kalau maksain diri bikin postingan soal makanan dlm bahasa inggris.. bisa kayak resep bikin batu-bata jadinya 😂😂😂
