Fruits and Veggies Monday - Glutinous Rice Cake

Its Monday and its my favourite #fruitsandveggiesmonday initiated by a wonderful Steemian @lenasveganliving.

We have a hundreds of sweets dishes from my country, Philippines, though it may cook in different variations per region, one thing is for sure, its tasty and delicious. Today, i am glad to share to you a sweets made from glutinous rice, (I am using a glutinous rice flour).

In Tagalog (my native language), we called this sweets Palitaw or Glutinous rice cake in English. A flattened rice cake topped with sesame seeds, sugar and fresh grated coconut. This serves delicious during snacks. So without much further ado, let’s start it.

Ingredients

Glutinous rice flour (2 cups)
Water (1 cup)
Toasted sesame seeds (½ cup)
Sugar (½ cup)
Grated matured coconut meat (1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Combined the glutinous rice flour and water to form a dough.
  2. Form a ball and flatten it up using your palm.
  3. In a boiling water, put the formed dough and wait to float at the surface (that means the dough is cooked).
  4. Remove the dough and set aside, allowing water to drip.
  5. Combine well the roasted sesame seeds and sugar to form a mixture.
    6.Roll the dough in to the mixture.
    7.Then roll again to the grated coconut.
    8.Serve and enjoy!

This sweets is flavorful and so easy to make. This is good for a hearty quick snack or a nice venture to business minded people this coming christmas.

You know what @sherylneil 😉 we have the same thing like this too.. but😊 we fill it with sugar palm before we put in in boiling water and roll it over in grated coconut and sometimes with after roll it over the sesame street we will deep fried it too...

I love glutinous rice cake 😉 any recipe with flour or the rice itself 😊 thanks for sharing and I know how delicious this one.

I have to try this glutinous rice flour, it sounds very easy to use. The recipe is also very simple but delicious for sure. I am wondering what would happen if I use maple syrup instead of sugar. Very nice presentation too 🍒 🍌🍑🌿🍍🍓🍇
