FRUITS AND VEGGIES MONDAY||SLUTTY VEGAN

Hooray for fruits and veggies Monday and thanks to @lenasveganliving for creating this community and our gracious host @plantstoplanks. I am so happy to have received 2nd place in last weeks competition. This week I am reviewing a vegan restaurant that is taking Atlanta to a new level in vegan cuisine.

My daughter had me out in the cold rainy weather, in the middle of the week, standing in line for hours for a veggie burger. She had previously told me about a food truck that serve up vegan burgers with names with a sexual innuendo. She informed me that the food truck was doing so well that they were opening up a brick and mortar location. I checked them out on the internet and found that people were raving about these vegan burgers and comparing them to beef burgers. Even people who weren't vegan were giving these burgers the thumbs up.

I had to find out why these vegan burgers were allegedly so good. I watched a video from the company that makes what they call "the impossible burger" that is plant based. The impossible burger looks like a real beef burger. It is pink in it's uncooked stage and brown when it is fully cooked.

As we stood in line waiting for them to open, I watched through the window as they prepared the impossible burgers. The burgers were stored in clear plastic containers and they looked just like uncooked beef burgers. The cook put the patties on the grill and cooked them like regular burgers. The cook then put a handful of vegan cheese on top of the patty and the vegan cheese melted just like real cheese make from cow's milk. There was a cook that toasted the Hawaiian buns on the other side of the grill then passed them to the next station for the assembly of the burgers.

The Slutty Vegan only features a few burgers each day so your choices are limited. I had decided, while in line, that I was going to order a "Super Slut" which had jalapenos, guacamole, grilled onions, and vegan cheese on a Hawaiian bun. But when the Line Captain came out, he informed us that they were only serving 3 different burgers and the vegan hot dog that day. So I ended up ordering a "One Night Stand" with vegan bacon, vegan American cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and special sauce on a Hawaiian bun.

The Slutty Vegan operation is efficient, the Line Captain keeps everyone informed as to what is happening for that day. This particular day it was cold and raining so the Line Captain was passing out napkins for our cold and runny noses. He answered questions and keep the line moving smoothly. As we entered the building, we ordered and paid for our food with a debit or credit card, no cash, then moved to another line to wait for our food. One person can only order two burgers, strict rule. French fries and a pickle accompany all orders.

This is not a sit down restaurant, you get your food and go. When we got our food we headed back to the car which was parked three blocks away. The time was 5:04 pm, we arrived at 3:11 pm. The Slutty Vegan is about 25 minutes from my house so we decided to eat the burgers in the car, I hate to eat cold food.

When I took my first bite, I knew what everyone was raving about. That toasted bun did not get soggy with that special sauce they use. That sauce was amazing, it was spicy with a little sweetness and it made the burger. The vegan cheese was soft and gooey like real dairy cheese. I didn't notice the vegan bacon on my burger until I was almost finish. The texture of the impossible vegan burger was like that of a beef burger. The overall taste was phenomenal, it was the best vegan burger I've had. Even the french fries were good, crisp on the outside and tender on the inside and sprinkled with seasoning.

Of course I ordered one to take home for my husband. I used his burger to take these pictures.

Can you see the vegan bacon on the burger? So what we had was a Bacon Cheeseburger, vegan style. I highly recommend this vegan burger, but I don't want to stand in another line to get it.
I have been Sluttified.

Wow it looks awesome, a beast of a burger

@gguy773, yes it is. I was stuffed after eating the burger, I couldn't even finish the fries.

Ahhhh, I have been wanting to check this place out! I keep seeing it blasted everywhere, but can't quite see waiting in line that long just yet. I know a friend who lives fairly close and he said the lines are pretty much always like that. One of my clients finally checked out the Plant-Based Pizzeria last weekend, which is another one of the new vegan hot spots in the city (though on the other side of town from Slutty Vegan). Atlanta really has so many options for vegan food now! Cafe Sunflower has been my go-to for a long time now, but I need to start branching out and trying some new spots the rare occasion I go out. :) Thanks for sharing your review!

@plantstoplanks, you are welcome. I don't usually eat out, but my daughter wanted to go, so I went along. I might have to wait until the popularity and the lines die down, or at least the weather gets better.

You've just added another place to visit on your list @plantstoplanks 😂😂😂 let me know when you did every visits😉

Can you make this one by yourself later @paleotwist 😉 I really wonder about the taste.. seems so yummy and delicious.. what's the rating for 1 to 10?

@cicisaja, I went online and couldn't find anyplace to purchase them. I believe it is just sold commercially.

You mean the beef taste like patty? Is it made of tempe or fermented soybean?

Wow @paleotwist, what an awesome concept, no wonder there's such long queues, their burgers sound amazing!

@lizelle, yes, they are amazing. My daughter talked me into waiting in line, normally I do not wait over 20 minutes at a restaurant.

Oh my goodness, wow!!! We have these lineups here in Toronto at Veg. Festivals, but I never feel like standing there for anything. Last year I almost did, but by the time I made up my mind, they were sold out, lol.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading your review very much. Not only I had a good laugh, especially about the names of their burgers, I am happy to see how veganism is taking over. This is definitely the future and non vegans will be eating vegan food without thinking about it twice. Well done my Dear 🌿🍔🌿 1 Collage.jpg

Thank you @lenasveganliving, this is not my norm, standing in long lines. Don't know if I will do it again. But I did love that burger. There are other restaurants that offer this impossible burger. But they are not all vegan restaurants. One serves this burger with dairy cheese instead of vegan cheese. I would not order from there. There are quite a few vegan restaurants in the Atlanta area, I've only tried 2 so far. I enjoy my cooking a lot better.

You can sluttify me too then because all of that sounds delicious. That was a commitment to vegan burgers and I totally get it for those results. I’m glad your daughter got you in line there. Next time we are in Atlanta I know where we are stopping for lunch.

@puravidaville, thank you. It was hard standing in a line for a burger. But my daughter wanted to go, so I obliged. She isn't a vegan, but she loves good food.

From the sound of it the line was well worth it.

Yes it was for the tummy.

I read about this eatery and would like to try it when I come to Atlanta.

@pyemoney, It is worth the wait.
