SuperFruits of the World - The Giant Bananas - Part #4
In the past 3 weeks i have been introducing to you many superfruits from Thailand mainly and today i want to introduce you to the superfruit Bananas in Thailand and did you know that Thailand has 28 Known Varieties Of Bananas that are grow in Thailand...just amazing.
The humble Banana whatta fruit. So good for you, and sooooooooooooooooooo many varieties from which to choose from. I was at fruit festival last weekend and it's the first time for me to see these massive giant bananas at first i thought they where plastic not real but i was wrong.
I needed to touch and feel them to convince myself some of these bananas could have weight at less 1 kg each you could use one banana to make banana smoothies all week. They were fat and juicy looking you can image the size of these bananas by my finger been placed beside the banana.
In Thailand bananas seem to pop up anywhere and in any place just about in every corner you turn you will see bananas. Spend any time out and about in Thailand, and you will spot bananas for sale in strange places. Certainly the supermarket and at fruit markets, but also at the auto-parts shop, T-shirt shops, and any variety of local businesses. These are guaranteed to be home grown and as fresh as can be. They’re a plant that waves “Welcome to the Tropics!”
We all know our standard bananas that we are use to seeing like the Cavendish Banana , Lady Finger Banana and the Gros Michel Banana but the Red Banana this was a first for me. They are soft and have a sweet flavor when ripe , some people say they taste like a regular banana but with a hint of raspberry sweetness and like yellow bananas the red bananas provide many essential nutrients and may benefit to your immune system, heart health, and digestion.
In actual fact they say their are about 1,000 different varieties of bananas around the world and i do think that Thailand has a good number of them it has actually been said that Thailand really has about 100 varieties of bananas but the 28 varieties i mentioned early are the most commonly sold and eaten here in Thailand.
As we all know Bananas have many great benefits ,They Contain Many Important Nutrients , They Lower your Blood Pressure , Rich in Antioxidants , Improve Digestive Health , Support Eye Health , Support Your Immune System and are Delicious and Easy to Add to Your Diet.
The Thousand Fingers Bananas are the most sweetest banana i have ever tasted here in Thailand they are about 1 and ½ inches long and it has a hint of vanilla taste. It's actually called the Musa Banana Tree but known as the "Thousand Fingers Banana Tree".
My mother always used to say to me: 'The older you get, the better you get, unless you're a banana.' 🤣 🤣 🤣

Your mother was right, lol. Nevertheless, I just learned so much about bananas that blows my mind. Especially the 1000 finger tree and and 1 kg banana, lol. I am also intrigued by the red banana, although I have seen it before on the photo, lol. And of course I would love to try them all. I love banana and I have one per day religiously, lol. I can't live without them. But I must say, I had no idea there is such a variety in one place where you live, so again, you are very lucky Angelo and thank you for sharing them with us 🌴🍌🌴
Aren't mothers so beautiful they are always right. Yeah i was surprised to know that their are about 1,000 varieties of bananas in this world and i agree i have tried the red bananas and the little lady finger bananas over here and they are my two favorites very sweet 👍
Holy bananas! I've never seen that many on one tree before! How cool to see just how many different varieties there are. I would be happy to take the whole day to taste test and learn all the different nuances in flavor. :)
I know where your coming from when i first came to live in Thailand one of my missions was to taste test every different banana i could find and i was not disappointed 🙂
