Poker at Lucksacks.com with Snook

There is this cloud over me. It's an interesting cloud. It's testing my patience which even on a good day is not my strong suit. What do you do when there is an interesting cloud following you? Wait, of course, for it to go away. You can make the waiting frustrating, screaming, feeling sorry for yourself and so on, or you can try to occupy your time so the days go a bit faster.

Poker

Did you know there is a poker site that you can win Steem on? Did you know that this poker site is free to play? Like really free. Well, there is. It's called Lucksacks.com. A while ago I had signed up to play. I was bored. I had no idea how to play poker and really didn't care to learn. Did I mention I was bored?

Anyway...

My husband plays poker. He has for a long time. He loves poker. He would play poker as a full-time job if he could. After a night out playing, he comes home and tells me ALL about it. Hand by hand. This is where years of marriage comes in handy.

Over the years I have learned to just listen to the tone of his voice and know when to nod, hmmm and Ohhh! so he thinks I'm listening. I'm not condoning not listening to your spouse. I'm just passing along the wonders of the human brain and how they can find ways for you to survive anything.

The first ever game I played at Lucksacks.com didn't end well. It ended fast but not well. Hubby was sitting behind me looking at the screen and filling my head with statistics. Yes, math. While he was giving me odds and teaching me how to bet, all I wanted to know was what card beats what card. I will give us both credit. Both of us tried very hard to do something together. That was the last time he helped me.

@Inthenow tried to help by sending me some really nice tables of what beats what and when you should bet or not. I will be honest and say I try to use them as much as I can but to me, that is taking the game way too seriously. @Thehive has tried his best to teach me some rules. He really tries, so I try. I listen for about 3 minutes, then my mind just goes blank. @Jackmiller has also tried to teach me to play. That has been a hoot and a half.

If I don't like poker then why do I play? Friends and fun. It's a nice break in my afternoon to try and see how I do while laughing and joking along the way. Each time I play I learn a bit more but in the end, for me, it's all about luck how long I last.

I think Lucksacks.com is one of Steem's best-kept secrets.

Make someone smile today. It can not hurt you and it might save their life.

Love,

Snook

I'm just passing along the wonders of the human brain and how they can find ways for you to survive anything.

Even the play-by-play on a game you don't understand -- apparently.

I don't even pretend any more.

I never knew about the "No Pair" hand being worth something -- so I learned a piece of useful information from you today. I don't understand why poker is so popular. It's not one bit exciting to me. It's not really a game in the way I think of games. I like real games as much as anyone ... but Come ON!!! The only thing exciting about this is the gambling aspect -- I guess. But I don't enjoy gambling either.

So ... I'm officially adding poker to the things I "don't get." Like football. And beer. And pro-wrestling. And "deer season." And "Vegas." I'm glad people are into these things -- because it keeps them off the streets and out of my way. That's the only use I have for any of them.

(I'm sure there are more things I could add to the "I-don't-get-this" List. But that's enough. You get the picture.)

HA! I never did either and still have to look at the charts :D but it's a nice break to laugh with friends in my afternoon and relax right now. Something new to take my mind off of stuff. <3

If you just play for fun, maybe just forget about all the math and just enjoy the game itself? Heck, you might just get lucky without using any particular strategy ;-)

Oh, I do :D I hate Math and avoid it at all costs LOLL

You should consider supporting @ats-witness too!

@ats-witness supports the Steem Poker League!

thank you for that. It's a fun place to go and relax for free

I'm so glad you're here! and we have the same husband and coping mechanisms, lol!! 'mmm hmmm' oh! wow...' etc.

xoxo!! b

I haven't even logged into you site, since you helped me out with the joining issues - apologies - I will try to, time difference permitting....is it getting busier in there?

How is it looking in around......9 hours from now?
(my A.m.)

Busted! Ahahahaha! :-D

Thank YOU Beth for making me feel welcome when I first started going <3

Not only it is super fun, but you are always contending for prizes, even if you had no idea how to play, sometimes the cards are just good enough to win hands for us.

Most of the hands wont even see a flop, so use the table @inthenow shared with you, and play tight based on your position and you will do just fine!

Thank you for the advice. That was very kind of you!!

I´m not an expert, by no means, but I like to think that I´m above average poker player, so if I can help... I´ll !!

Really happy you joined us at the poker tables. Until I read this your style of play had me confused at times (which is the sign of a good player). Now that you have shared some of your influences it makes sense. Your doing great I think. Hope we are entertaining and not boring you. As you know, the game can sometimes be disappointing even frustrating. You can beat back those times by not judging the result of any individual hand. Just measure your actions and if you played it right. Those bad beats when you were an 80% favorite happen a lot. If you got the money in good and it went bad its ok. In the long run getting it in good will put you ahead. Cya on the e-felt.

Thanks. I'm having fun :)
it's free and I get to play with friends. That is all that matters.
Yes, it's a lot of fun also trying to see how far I get too. Not saying it's not. but like I said in the post it's a fun break in my afternoon IF I see the clock at the right time LOLL

and yes, trying to figure out players is fun too. :D so don't tell my secret :D

You are definitely improving your game. There comes a time where your intuition will take over. And all those years of nodding to your hubby's conversations seems to have paid off... just a little bit... ahahaha. As for that cloud, I do think it will go away soon.

God, I hope so!!! LOLL and thanks.
But do me a favor and never tell Hubby I might have been listening :D HAAAAAA
