Sad endings are by far the most memorable.
Well, except for Cinderella and other fairy-tale Happily Ever Afters....
Our brains are wired for negative and dangerous stuff; it's an evolutionary adaptation to keep us alive longer. It's safe to forget happy things and dangerous to forget negative things.
Still, I want magic and divine intervention (Just not puppies and rainbows and unicorns) :)
