Defy The Norms | #FreeWrite
Not because I am hard headed as what they told thee;
"Girls must hurry, must have a ring by twenty,"
As if this was a game, in order to win you have to marry.
But won't it be nicer if you can stand on your own?
Don't let people invalidate your dreams and your worth,
For within you core, you are molded to conquer the world.
Be Fearless—You can do it, no room for doubt,
Be Honorable—Like those eagle scout,
Be Independent—Soar high— do not be afraid to stand out.

My poor daughter is feeling the same pressure at 22. Her mom last night was demanding to know where she was hiding the husband and the grandkids. My daughter just laughed. "I'm in trouble because I'm not a single mother." Nice poem and it should go in the Poetry Digest.
