The Four Corners
We scour the four corners of this earth.
Where hides love and empathy?
Many inhabitants of earth cry
for food, clothing and shelter.
Many, so many, die.
Can we spare a dime or dollar
to ease pain...for even one?
Or are backs turned,
as for luxury some succumb?
Can we recall,
cold, hungry nights?
Was ever our bellies not full?
Do we forget the hands,
does the right not know what
left has done?
Giving from want and never knowing what tomorrow
holds in store,
often comes not from rich,
but from the purse of the poor.
