The Torment of Wine

He poured the wine from a tall decanter into a long-stem glass. Then without pause, let the powder fall from his palm. He stirred the red wine to make sure the silver poison wasn't seen by his guest. She smiled and brought the glass to her lips.

Then the lights went out and a clanking sound as the glasses touched each other. The light flickered on and she took a drink.

He stood there watching her swallow the wine. Then he brought up his glass until the wine passed his lips. He too took a long swallow.

She stood puzzled for a moment and white foam left her mouth. She fell with a twist; her eyes wide open reflecting the fireplace.

He smiled and went to her to make sure she was dead. He leaned over and touched her face.

He rose up and poured another glass of wine. He walked over to the fireplace and took a drink.

He took a few moments of reflection and watched the flames lick the bricks. Then he grabbed his chest and fell to the floor.

Moments before, in the dark, the glasses clinked and a bit of poison from her glass spilled into his glass. This made both stems poisonous flowers. She drank and died. He drank and died. And the historians remember them as tormented lovers.

Pretty good! Glad they were both poisonous flowers and he wasn't just going to sit there and enjoy the rest of the bottle of wine watching the fire in her dead eyes!

Never trust a guy watching you drink wine.
So he killed her and because he is a coward he committed suicide?
Poisoning someone seems to be a female way of killing...

She poured some of the poison into his glass in the dark when the glass clinked. She got her revenge.

Aha, I like a happy end. Thanks for the explanation. I win you a great day.
