Emily, wake up, sweetie. — Mom caressed the little girl's shoulder, gently dispersing the last strands of sleep away from her mind. Emily stretched her arms and let out a long yawn. A sunflower at dawn would look just as beautiful.

Moo...oom! Is Dany awaaake al...ready? — The girl inquired with her eyes still half-closed. Her mother laughed at her competitive attitude. He is. Now, wash up and get dressed! We don't want to be late. — Said the woman while placing the girl's clothes on the sheets. Lazily, Emily got out of bed and went to the bathroom.

The freshness of the water finally made her feel awake. A pressure on her stomach reminded the little girl about the trip they had planned for that day. Rushing to catch up with her older brother, she finished getting ready as fast as she could and ran downstairs.

Youcan'tbeatme! — With a mouth full of food, Dany taunted her sister, but made some room next to him on the dining table. Emily stuck out her tongue at him and sat down. C'mon, kiddos, get it over with! We're running late — Mom handed the girl her favorite bowl, the green one. Emily filled it up with Cheerios and poured some milk over them.

When the kids were already sitting on the back of the car, the mother felt relieved. After adjusting the mirrors, she started the engine, and the three of them headed out to the beach. On the road, Dany and Emily made a truce and held hands silently most of the time.

Armed with paddles and a pair of buckets, the siblings had built an imponent sandcastle, as no kid has ever seen. When it was ready, the mother placed a tiny clay figure on top of it. Now, standing barefoot on the sand, the three were contemplating the sea.

Tide was going up, and eventually, a wave wiped out the childish temple they had made with loving hands. It had been a year since dad passed away, and they were starting to let go. I love you, daddy — The girl closed her eyes, and a tear streamed down her left cheek.

Awww, another great one! Tugged at my heartstrings.
Those competitive kids! My two youngest are just like that, haha, everything is a competition.

Oh! ♥ I hope that when I have my own, I learn to handle that inherent competitiveness decently haha I'd love to have kids and I think that feeling sometimes leaks into my writing.

When you have kids, you learn as you go, haha! It doesnt matter how much you learn ahead of time, there is still many surprises and things to learn to deal with. Every child is different as well, so what you dealt with in child one will be nothing like what you deal with in child two.
Parenthood is an amazing thing, and the main thing is to love them, so if you have that down, you are set. ♥
