100 Degrees in the Shade
A Conversation
"It's a dry heat."
"Compared to what? Standing in a furnace watching your ear lobes burn off?"
"If you're in San Antonio in August, it is 100 degrees in the shade with 100 percent humidity. You wonder what will come first: drowning or ignition."
"And how is this better?"
"There is no fear of drowning. I mean, the humidity can't be over five percent today. And if you stand over here under this tree, there is a small breeze. Nice."
"And you're out of the sun?"
"Yep, so there is no fear of ignition. Just don't let the sun fall on you."
"Can't we go in?"
"Sure, but then you'll be too cold."
"Why?"
"Because we're the only city where it is 105 degrees outside and 60 degrees inside."
"I forgot my coat."
"Then we'd better stay outside. Just avoid accidental ignition. I don't want to have to bring you back in an urn."

Hey, @wordymouth.
It's always entertaining to have a discussion about dry heat vs. humid heat. While I agree that humid heat is more uncomfortable faster, the dry heat just overwhelms. Not a fan of either.
Interestingly enough, (or maybe this is just the same moot argument on the other end of the spectrum), I do think it matters with the cold, though. A dry cold doesn't seem to be nearly as brutal on me, especially when it's snowing, then a humid cold would be. That one seems to just go right through me.
Great freewrite, sir, and a very appropriate use of the prompt. :)
Sounds like a typical August conversation where I live.
The last line... It got me! 😁 Great conversation freewrite.
