Day 159: 5 Minute Freewrite Challenge initiated by @ mariannewest. Tuesday-Prompt: Think

Don was excited as he drove home from work. After 2 years of working with the company, he finally got a raise. He ran into the kitchen where Emily was making dinner and told her the good news. When she found out the amount of the raise, she was not happy.

"That is a mere pittance and it is a slap in the face. He wouldn't have a company if it wasn't for you and all of the new customers you have brought in. He lives like a king and we live like paupers." Emily scoffed.

Don had more surprising news. He had invited his boss for dinner the following evening, to show his appreciation. His wife was livid.

"How could you do that without speaking with me first?" Emily asked.

"I didn't think you would mind." Don replied.

"You know how I feel about him, and you didn't think I would mind? Think again!" Emily yelled.

"Mr. Measly loves seafood, so please be a dear and make him a nice seafood meal." Don pleaded.

"With what...my looks? We don't have the money for that!" Emily yelled.

Mr. Measly loved the fish dinner and thanked Emily for her troubles, as it was clear to him that she bought the freshest and most expensive fish.

Emily replied, "Oh, it was no trouble at all. The fish was frozen and I made it especially for you. It is called, "Poor Man's Lobster." With our income, this is a close as we can get to a real lobster meal."

Poor Man's Lobster Recipe- Tastes just like lobster

2-Frozen Haddock Fillets-I can't remember the brand name. They are thick and come in a box.
1-cup of sugar
2-chicken bouillon cubes
Season-All

Boil 1-quart of water and add one cup of sugar. Add frozen Haddock fillets. Bring to another boil for 10 minutes. Make a broth with 1-cup of hot water and 2-chicken bouillon cubes. Take fish out of water and pat dry. Place fish in a glass Pyrex dish and pour broth over it. Sprinkle with Season-All. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes. Serve with melted butter. Enjoy!

Interesting and I think I like it better than lobster.
And I would have been furious too!!!!
😄

It melts in your mouth! : )

I like the wife, hope he would get a higher raise though!!!

But at the same time, I like how humble the husband is, appreciating the raise even if it was small.

Thank you! Yes, appreciate everything, no matter how small. Thanks for stopping by! : )
