The Dinner Party - Part 2

For those who requested a continuation of The Dinner Party here is today's freewrite prompt in Part 2 of the story.

As Carlo pushed his chair back from the table, releasing the hand of the other dinner guest to his right, Ellen remained transfixed on the face of Aggie. Aggie's eyes stared straight at Carlo, although she was the speaker, her words were smooth as satin, and deadly.

What on Earth is this? thought Ellen. Chills raced up her forearms like rats. Carlo averted his eyes from Aggie. He tugged Ellen into action.

"Get up!" he hissed. She moved as in a nightmare. Her body pushing from the table.

"Oh, Carlo, you thought you were free of me, didn't you? A simple push down the stairs. An accident, you claimed. Mother and Father believed you."

"This is ridiculous, Marie!" Carlo said. His face hot with indignation.

"You will be hearing from my lawyer for this charade!"

Marie shrunk in her chair, her face reflecting surprise and fear.

Carlo pulled Ellen to standing and strode to the door. The silence fell as thick as a wool blanket on the room. As Carlo reached for the door, a loud click snapped in the room and his hand pulled at the door ineffectively. He banged at the handle, cursing.

"Not quite yet, big brother. I've been waiting for you."

I agree for part 3. Awaiting for more, and to see if he hits the floor. Oh how I anxiously waited for part 2. Take your time for part 3, we will wait for what will be (of Carlos.)

And Carlos thought his sister would just let him leave! tsk tsk You've reeled me in Janelle! I'm with the group who is (impatiently 😉) waiting for the next part now!

Okay, I'm waiting for Part 3! BTW, here is today's prompt about nothing. I already took it on and I invite you to do so too: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-154-5-minute-freewrite-thursday-prompt-nothing

Oh! The pressure lol
Thanks for following ❤😁

Part 3! Part 3! (no pressure)

You created a scene dense of suspense, compliments Janelle!

Thank you so much! I really like how this flows.

In fact I've to say that reading it comes really natural.. you're good in dialogues, I noticed. It's not easy to find lean and flowing stories here, some are such bricks.. brava.

I cherish this feedback. I consider my fiction weak compared to many I read, so this means a lot to me. Fiction stayed in my head....now I'm venturing in and finding a voice and it's so fun to create! Thanks @f3nix!

I'm going to sleep but let me say one last thing. I write a lot everyday but not fiction (unfortunately), as you know. But one thing between professional and fiction writing is common and essential: real communication. There's people that believe that in order to create a great novel or poetry you have to use a bunch of big words at any cost. Usually the result is empty stuff. For me, if you have a correct and flowing syntax plus a real message, then you're already successful.

Hugs! Wise words and I must agree. Poetry has been my escape all these years, and emotion in concise words has seemed to come easiest. Plot and action, not so much and what I'm pushing to.
