# Firstborn - Freewrite Poetry
Firstborn
The touch of her hair
smooth as silk
rabbits fur, I muse.
I, a child, observing a babe,
Her smell clean, fresh; newborn.
My mother's milk glistening on her lips.
Mine.
The wonder and amazement of tiny hands and peachy cheeks,
Her eyes closed to hospital lights.
A first nursing, a life separate of my own, but more a part of me than ever I could dream.
A warm swaddling cradled
in young, inexperienced arms.
A peace and adoration.
A joy blooming larger than
wildest imagination.
Pain forgotten,
fatigue ignored.
This is me,
plus one.
How was I so incredibly blessed?
My face on hers and her heartbeat
ringing in my ears.
A stucco,
unduplicated.
My first born,
My daughter.
Love lessons,
new chapters
a world opening.
This is my 5 minute freewrite.

I enjoy all of your poems and really saw the feelings in this one. Thanks for making me think of my babies. Even though I was a dad, I still long for those days. Thanks!
Here is today's prompt: Day 294: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: puzzle
Thank you for reading and for the surprise SBD! I love that this poem resonated with some. Hugs!
This is very beautifully written. I was thinking of taking this prompt this direction at first, but nothing came out of me, even after starting and kissing my firstborn's cheeks numeral times.
Then I came across your post! So glad I did, cos you did it!
Heard you are going for a therapy for your hip, @wandrnrose7, bless you to get it fixed! Take care :)
I'm glad this poem resonated with you. I so love these memories of my infants. Imagine, when I was little, I didn't think I wanted children.
Thanks for the support and positive thinking! One day at a time. I already like my therapist.
always a great read
Thank you for reading
Heartfelt. Sincere. Beautiful.
Thanks for sharing with us 💗
Thank you for the support and compliment!
That is a great poem!!! Love the photo too!!!
Thank you @awesomemike, it's great to see you.
A great tribute to your daughter, and to you. I could feel the wonder and the love. It really is amazing after a pregnancy and all that comes with it, and the birth itself, that the wonder and the miracle of it all still manages to manifest.
I really enjoyed this.
And since you mentioned it on the freewrite page, I wish you well with the traveling. May it be as pain free as possible. :)
Thank you for the kind & thoughtful comment. I am happy that my emotions came across in the poem. Nice to meet you and following you now!
Just so beautiful. Just like yesterday.
She sighs. xoxo
Tip!
Hugs, thank you, sweet @dswigle!
Nice! My son is just 4 now, but It's already hard to believe he was ever that small, delicate and vulnerable. While at the same time it seems it was just days ago.
Thank you! Blink and they are 35! Hugs.
Great! I really enjoyed reading it, thank you!
