The old days were so much simpler, weren't they!? I remember when (in Australia at least) there were 4 channels on TV, and kids spent most of their time playing outside. Having said that, good parents can still help their kids make good choices that include balance.
I do also love the technology of today, and I'm very excited about what we can do with it. Where it's heading might be a bit scary, but it has been quite impressive watching concepts such as TV evolve into what it it today. Remember when, if you missed an episode, you waited until it aired again - sometimes, that could take years?!
