Day 174: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: vandals

According to searchsecurity, Vandals can be viewed as viruses that can arrive over the Internet stuck to a Web page. Vandals are sometimes referred to as "hostile applets."
Vandals by default is bad because it is something that can destroy other peoples' property or physical injury, yet not all cases are like that too. It could also be putting malicious data or files to a certain computer.
I have been teaching Professional Ethics in Information Technology, wherein part of the discussion there is Computer Crime. One of the commandments of Computer Ethics is "Thou shalt not use the computer to harm other people."
There's an incident that my student is busy doing his project and out of her curiosity, he searches a virus and then he changes something from the code. What happened was every time you will insert a secondary storage medium to that particular computer, it will contaminate and can transfer to another.
I also experience about it because I don't know that my Universal Serial Bus (USB) was also contaminated from the personal computer in the office (PC). I transfer one file to my PC and to my surprise my USB is full already, it created multiple files that causes me to format my PC at home. Since he know what he did, he also know how to remove the VANDALS. Thanks after the third attempt of formatting I am successful.
Lesson learn: Be careful of inserting any secondary storage to your PC, Laptops, Mobile Phones, and other gadget without assuring if it is SAFE. Remember, "Prevention is rather than cure".

That is a good warning! We had problems with viruses often when my kids were younger, because they would click on seemingly innocent looking things online. I have never even thought about getting a virus from something that I use as secondary storage! Thanks for the warning!
