Hi Everyone!

This is my Weekend Freewrite 2/3/2018

If you have never done a @mariannewest Freewrite do yourself a favor and give it a go!! You will be so happy you did!!

The Haystack

My grandfather lied to my grandmother. I guess it runs in the family.

It was a tightrope you had to walk. You just never knew who to trust. You lived your life with open arms as honest as you could be.

The day you find out that lies are everywhere and there was nothing you could do to change it, you keep to yourself some more.

Every day when kids would play, you hid in your corner of it all. To play by yourself, alone once again, so the hurt didn't show too much.

I was destined to come from a family that was prone to lie. It was ironic when you didn't lie, you were called a black sheep.

A black sheep for being friendly, for trying to spread the joy, but in the end, you never won, as you ended up in the corner.

Why people mistrust the smiling face, when all they wanted was a friend, was something not understood.

It came from her heart but the pain it caused her, a person would think she would learn to stop being so nice to all.

Then again, what would that prove?

So out to the field, she went.

The neighbor Margaret had this habit of spitting. It began to get on my nerves while sitting here, minding my own business, feeling sorry for myself.

Margret always came along to ruin a darn good pout. Her spitting could be heard for miles even hidden in the piles of hay looking for the needle as I was.

Margret came from a family that never cared a wit what she did or said. I think it was called New Age.

But when I was down and just wanted to find the pervertible needle, she always came running along. Spitting as she followed.

One day I turned to her and asked why she always followed. Her reply left me stunned that someone would even contemplate what she said.

She turned to me and said, "You know you always are smiling, but I wonder if you are really that good and happy inside and if you are, why do you hide from people far and near? so I follow you and spit and spit because I know it irritates you."

I turned to her, face red full of embarrassment, and said:

"The day my mother slapped my face was the saddest day of all. It was the first time I came out here to hide away from all. Now when I'm feeling blue and in need of a good cry, it's the place I always run to."

"You see Margaret, no one can always be happy but it does make living much more enjoyable."

"To trust in oneself that what you are doing is right and good is the key to a happy life."

"To wake up in the morning, with the thought of knowing, you would go out of your way to make the day as fun and happy as you can. By the end of the day, you smile and laugh realizing it wasn't so bad."

"No prompting is needed to have a good day once you get in the habit."

"Once and a while your feelings will get hurt when someone thinks your fake. On those days I come here and hide in the beautiful haystack."

"I fill my time looking for the preverbal needle that everyone always talks about. I would go in search of the camel but the trek would be too great. So if you are lonely feel free to help me!"

"I have found many things in this haystack. Watches, bottles, and money but never, ever have I seen that needle so I'm still looking."

Margret looked at her, while shaking her head, and quietly walked away.

Happy Writing!!
Much Love,
Snook

This is my family @snook, new age I mean. However, we weren't allowed to spit 😆😆

"I fill my time looking for the preverbal needle that everyone always talks about. I would go in search of the camel but the trek would be too great. So if you are lonely feel free to help me!"

I love the way you end this story snook. It's almost a philosophical/allegorical wrap-up to the rest of the action in the narrative. Liked it a lot 🙂

The first part of your comment cracked me up laughing!! 😁 Thank YOU for that!!! and I'm very happy your parents stopping you from spitting LOLLL

and the second part made me very HAPPY that you understood the last part. I wasn't sure anyone would catch the camel reference.... and it feels wonderful to know you did!!!

Thank you for always stopping and your very kind words!!

I hope your day has been full of laughter!!✿

You're right, stopping the kindness would prove nothing at all.

"To wake up in the morning, with the thought of knowing, you would go out of your way to make the day as fun and happy as you can. By the end of the day, you smile and laugh realizing it wasn't so bad."

Perfectly and wonderfully said! (hugs and blueberry pie smells!)

While snacking on a tasty piece of Snook Fruit, I came across a delicious little platter of prompts left by the Goddess Marianne. As tempted as I was to keep them to myself, they looked too scrumptious not to share.
