Day 201: 5 Minute Freewrite / Selfie Contest @freewritehouse
Newly Married
There once was a little girl from Wisconsin that never had a banana because her mother threw up on them. No bananas were ever seen in her house
The little girl grew up and married. Her new husband loved bananas. The day came when the husband wanted cake. A special cake, a birthday cake.
"What kind of cake? I will be happy to make any kind of cake you desire." the women said. I did say she was just newly married.
A banana cake was the answer.
The poor newly married woman had heard of banana bread, never had any, but banana cake? No! Never! How in the world would you make a cake from bananas?
She searched and searched as she was told that yes, you poor banana deprived young women there is such a thing as banana cake.
Recipe found she made the cake with some really great icing to put on top.
Her new husband was very happy. He loved how it tasted and had a great laugh when she told the story of never knowing about banana cake.
He then asked the question, "where did you find the recipe?", yes, this was before the internet.
She pulls out an old book with ragged edges, shows him the recipe while both noticed at the bottom was the name of the lady whose recipe it was.
What she had found was his Mom's old banana cake recipe! Found in an old cookbook she had gotten for a present from her own mother when she was young.
