You’ve Got Spam

The house phone doesn’t ring much anymore unless it’s a telemarketer but a beep on the cell phone or iPad comes often to announce a message has dropped into the email inbox.

Once my computer-wise friends and relatives had my email there was lots of mail showing up in the inbox.

At first it was joke after joke and I enjoyed having the contact. Eventually I had seen most of the jokes and they cluttered up the inbox. It was only a few friends who’s only interact was to send jokes and I wished they would stop sending them so often.

I joined a photography website that gave a few cents for photos and started to use the internet for more than sending jokes back and forth and looking up answers on google.

Spam is a real problem. I was talking on the phone (yes, not texting or emailing) to a friend and she said,

”Jo, you don’t have to keep sending me those weight loss incentives as I’m not worrying about my weight anymore.”

I was taken back,

“What are you talking about? All the years you have known me and you think I would insult you and spam your inbox with crap like that.”

As I delve into the mystery of the spammy emails, I found out someone was using my name but the ending of the email address was different.

Hubs was also getting spam ads for penis enlargers and viagara in his inbox with my name as the sender. He never mentioned it before as he thought I was being a joker.

Now I know why some of my friends have been ignoring me. :)
