Taxed To Death

The old adage ‘ the only sure things in life are death and taxes’ comes to mind at seeing the word tax.

Tax can change from a noun to a verb when we talk about being taxed to death. 💀

Although it doesn’t have to refer to property taxes or income tax. We can tax our health doing strenuous work but it is usually a dreaded word that means one has to shell out hard earned money to keep the government coffers full.

And where do our taxes go? Yes we help other countries in need, our indigenous people, programs and grants to help the homeless, welfare, young people and seniors. Canada has the best health care system in the world. All this costs tax money.

My personal wish for taxes here is that PEI would build new roads with a good base as these ones are full of potholes. Yes, they have been patched by the road crew but not a smooth vehicle ride when there’s more patches than the original asphalt in some cases.

The downside is if we want better highways the taxes will go up to cover the cost.

It’s a dog eat dog tax circle.

We are almost taxed to death here in The Netherlands too. While it is one of the tax paradise countries for multinationals. Nothing ever comes for free here. Every little piece of “service” comes with its price.

We have VTL (gambling machines)in about every bar, casinos and lottery tickets that were suppose to ease the tax burden but there hasn’t been any significant difference I can see.

Don’t think that helps indeed.

We will need taxes I suppose until AI takes over and we can learn to cooperate and take out the middle man of money.

Ahh! A1 may assemblage Steemians into a main collective where money is passe’.

Very well spoken. Taxes are exorbitant when you think of it. I just left visiting Canada. For me, though, I saved money through exchange rates, but sure is high.

Thanks @wandrnrose7. Yes the difference rate in our money makes it better for you coming here. Where were you in Canada?

I was in Aurora. Saturday we spent an afternoon and evening in Toronto and we walked around by the CN tower. My best friend from school married and lives in Aurora.

That’s a busy part of Ontario. I lived in Whitby, outside Toronto. at one time.

The old adage "the only sure things in life are death" and taxes

The taxes in my country are also not destined for the repair of bumps in the highway. Where I already live public transport does not want to enter for the same. The amount of potholes is impressive.

Sometimes I have to laugh as one could lose their vehicle in some of the potholes. 😂

So agree @reheadpei, taxes are a scourge on us all, it seems to be a world wide problem. Government's answer to any cost is to increase the taxes.

It does seem the government never gets enough money and problems keep escalating.

Howdy redheadpei! what a fun topic for a freewrite! lol..no, taxes suck.
