Seeing Red

I don’t have any red curtains and think they would look better on the windows of a house of ill repute rather than the average home. My apologies to anyone with red curtains.

Red curtains would bring a lot of attention to what goes on in there. It’s like the song they used to play at carnivals as the scantily clad dancing ladies came out from behind the red door to entice the group.

”What’s behind the red door?”

This was an allure for the men in the crowd to pay a fee and go inside the tent to see the burlesque dancers put on a show. I never went in but don’t think they were strippers.

Red is a great color but not my preference for curtains. Red is said to alert the senses. Seeing red, not so good, for it means you are really angry- mad like a bull.

The color of the blood running through our bodies is red. Until senior years, the color of the hair on my head was a shade of red called auburn. It’s a love it or hate it hair color but one of the rarest.

I haven’t seen red curtains since the early 70s. It was an era when black and red embossed wallpaper was in and red accessories were often used in the room’s decorations. I saw lovely red appliances in a kitchen and a red and black tile floor were in one fancy house.

Trends change and colors of curtains fade in and out - perhaps it’s a good thing.
