Freewrite: Pom-Pom Or Not?
I saw the freewrite single option for HELMET and had to smile as I have been crocheting toques to give away for gifts and also a couple for myself and Hubby. I think of them as a sort of helmet to keep your head warm. Of course the soft yarn wouldn’t protect you from a blow like a hockey or football helmet would.
Since the cooler weather, the shopping mall was full of people walking around with these toques on their heads. Some of the toques had a nice fluffy Pom-Pom on the top.
The above one I finished off this evening and had bought a Pom-Pom at the craft store as it looked so much big and fluffier than the ones I make.
Hubby gets to see what these toques look like and is usually with me when I wear them. I asked for his honest opinion. He didn’t think the big Pom-Pom looked right. He said it was alright in the front but when I turned around it looked like a big apple on my head. We had a good laugh.
Now I must decide- Will I wear this large Pom-Pom on my helmet, make a smaller one or not bother to put anything on top?

I think it depends on when or how frequently you wear it. I do not like the pom poms, they pull the "helmet" off and I wear them whole day in bed too. On the photo it looks great. If I had more and this was for once in a while, showing I would leave it on. It looks elegant. Happy Saturday. 💕

@muscara, pom poms would be a problem when the hat is washed if one isn’t careful.
I made some curly things out of yarn to put on the top of other toques. I will do a post on it later.
I love this post Jo and it gave me a laugh! I'm not the best person to ask for an opinion on this. I haven't worn a hat with a pom-pom for years. I used to have a baby blue hat with one but the little pom-pom was on the side and I loved it. One day a co-worker remarked that I had the pom-pom on the wrong side which was to tell if you "liked" girls or boys. Can you believe that and I was probably 20 years old at the time so you know how far I'm going back. She was a snoot who I didn't care for anyway but I did stop wearing my baby blue hat with the little pom-pom. Thinking about it now, I think I'm going to shop around for one similar so I say go for the pom-pom but maybe one just a little smaller cause now all I see is an apple too..lol. 😉 😊

You are very welcome Jo!! I know that you would and it's the thought that counts in my book! I saw some hats online and it seems big pom-poms are quite popular! I know mailing anything nowadays is ridiculously expensive. Sadly, was not always the case. 💞
I think the pom poms is adorable but we all have our own tastes.
