Free Write Tuesday prompt Trolley-day

This is my post for #freewrite prompt Trolley-day by @mariannewest

Back in our trolley-day-s were good times in our life, we were young, kids were all home and there were not many fishing laws. I find it odd that since they got rid of us using nets there are fewer commercial fishermen and more laws, I just had to throw that thought in there.

The fish house we fished for back then was owned by the wife of the fish house that just closed. It went out of business after the 2005 hurricanes destroyed it and they did not have insurance to rebuild. It had railroad tracks that went from the road out to the fish house and a big trolley that we pushed up and down the dock. This is a picture of me with a 10-pound trout that I caught when I used a splatter pole. A splatter pole is basically a cane pole, mine was 19 feet long, just a line and hook. You can see the railroad tracks on the dock, the trolley is at the other end.

This picture of the trolley was taken the day we had to remove all our nets off the dock because of the net ban, my husband is giving the one-finger wave and I took the picture. I was famous for cutting heads off in pictures until digital cameras came out.

This is what the fish house looked like after hurricane Francis, then a few weeks later it got hit by hurricane Jean, the little building was gone and it took most of the fish house away, that is when they closed.

One more trolley day thing is I ran over my husband's foot, he never wears shoes. One of our friends was there and told us to hold on there was a foot doctor visiting next door. The doctor came over and looked at it and I broke a couple of his toes, the Dr told my husband to come by his office in the morning and he would x-ray it. Yep 2 was broken.

That’s a big fish you are holding. Hurricanes can sure do a lot of destruction.

Running over your husband’s toes is quite the memory of your trolley days. 😊

@redheadpei I am holding a big trout, it is before the law was passed that we can not keep them this big. I can live without ever seeing another hurricane, they seem to be getting more powerful.

One thing certain in this life is there will always be more laws. If they weren’t dreaming up new ways to control and tax us, what would those lawmakers do all day?

@deirdyweirdy thank you for the prompt and I totally agree with you. also, they need to pass more laws or people who do the passing will not have a job.
