A Story About The Sound Of Sirens

“Can you hear it? The sound of sirens alerting everyone to something. You can't miss the sound. Is it time to panic or time to take action?”

“But I can't hear anything, nothing at all. The sound that I hear to the sound of silence. Maybe nothing is wrong.”

So these sirens are possibly happening or maybe they are not in this strange and confusing world.

“I remember the last time I really did hear sirens. It was during the war. We had to take shelter. People were so brave then. They had such spirit.”

I have to reply.

“But you did not live through that war. You're just telling me stories that you read out of a book or from the television. Of course, we know it happened. We know how brave people were. But you did not personally live through it. How do you know what the spirit was like? I think they'd rather there was no war It sounds like you've built your own picture of what it could have been like. But now you are looking to the future; but caught in a nostalgia for a world you never experienced. I'm glad you did not have to experience it “

That was a long reply. Much longer than intended.

Where did that come from?

It gained no response. Why should that spirit be needed today? There shouldn't be any emergency.

Today, the national emergency is declared by our own leader. In that case, have we declared war on ourselves?

What is the reason?

Is it because, a set of people should not have the same rights or the same privileges that is bestowed upon others? I thought that was what we were fighting against in the war. Are we now becoming the enemy?

“Don't worry, we just need a bit of that war spirit.”

Here it comes again.

I have a different line of thought.

“I don't think we do, because there is no war.”
