Orders are thicker than blood..
“Callous?” He thought to himself “Why on earth would she call me that?”
He pondered it for a moment, while watching the people run around in the yard below.
Her words stung. They had hurt him.
Very few people were allowed to get ever close to him, he couldn't let that happen.
Too many enemies.
She screamed those words at him, as she left his office in tears. "callous..."
He did not understand where her anger and tears had come from - he was only doing his job, nothing more.
Only five minutes before she had stormed in, unannounced.
“What do you think you are doing?” She shouted, “They are my parents!”
He looked at her not knowing what to say - had she lost her mind or something ?
“What do you mean my dear?” He replied trying to calm her down, to comfort her.
“You can't do this,” She sobbed, “You said I would be safe!”
“And so you are sweetness, you don't think I would ever let anything happen to you, do you? ”
She turned and ran out of the door...
He watched as the next train steamed out of station, on it's way to Belsen....
