Abject can mean Deference

in #freewrite6 years ago

So, freewrite means free associations when you choose to write on a daily basis, I see in my quick scan of feed, @improv goes to pitbulls, so as pun-King, he’s got the sounds-alike covered.

My first thought, or rising vision, is that of my mother picking up a wet Siamese kitten and commenting just how pitiful the cat looked with her fluff all ruffled and the stink-eyed look on her face peering through the screen door. We’d taken her in the house and with a downy dish towel rubbed very gently, but as vigorous as the stinky little thing could take, like one of those commercials or movies in which the sassy blonde steps up out of the pool, using a white and red striped towel to scrub her wet head. Kitty got busy licking her arms and rubbing her ears.

But a quick search of the thesaurus turns up a giant list of likenesses to this word, PIT is FULL, and not all connotations are cute and feel sorry for. For example, pathetic seems much harsher like something you spit with mirth and malice, or how someone’s being despicable and/or inadequate, are not attributes or attitudes you want to pick up and help.

Cheap and paltry advice, disguised as spiritual, the poor, pitiful, socialized dolts at the group I attended last night, no matter if one believes in the power of positive thinking, or that thoughts can be changed just by willing them away. Sometimes, the razor of another, shows you where your own shadow lies.

I found you through the #payitforward contest. You were featured by @headchange. Congratulations and best wishes.

It's interesting where our minds go when we think of words. Since a previous day's word was graceful, where it's a appropriate to say, full of grace, I tried that with pitiful, but full of pity is closer to the opposite of what we mean.

Google wasn't tremendously helpful, either. :)

It sounds to me like the cat you described very much fit the bill of at least pitiful looking, but being a cat, it wasn't about to let you think it felt pitiful at all. In fact, it might as well have been thinking you were all an ongoing part of its misery. :)

Yes, words and their meanings can go so many places--even the placement or how they're spoken.
No, that cat may have felt anger, but I doubt pitiful. Thanks for that particular part of the comment, ties into a dream I had last night about a cat.

It's nice to find another anti-woo person on here!

:) And, a freewriters who start with nothing, but the timer and an empty space of page.

Hi I just discovered the freewrites this week. It has been fun to see the different places each writer go with the prompts.
I have featured you in my entry for @pifc this week.
A curation contest to bring more exposure to undervalued blogs.

Thank you so much :) A very nice compliment!

Thanks for your post, which I've found after reading @headchange's entry in the Pay It Forward Contest

You're welcome and thank you very much for reading :)

Hi @kimberlylane. I came across your post through @headchange who featured it on the pay it forward curation contest.

It was very good of you to come up with such a meaningful post in a very limited time. You think fast!

another shout out on @pifc this week @kimberlylane.. everyone loves you and you become a reguler featured bloggers to us now.. and that's not pitiful at all, trust me.. but it's fit and full, I enjoyed reading your post as usual, thanks to @headchange this week.

Well... I am a pitiful reader and commenter @kimberlylane😊 I read this twice and I found some added value about not to think about how pitiful something or someone is, easily. Being grateful and look at the bright side are better.

@headchange who has featured you in the pay it forward contest this week and that's how I found you 😉 though ginabot had told me too.

Hi @kimberlylane. As you know @headchange featured you in this week's @pifc's PayItForward contest.

At first I wondering what this had to do with the freewrite word and then you tied it nicely. Keep up the great work. Would love to see you join us in future contests.
