FreeWriteHouse Party Day 25: Pleaseeee... With A CHERRY On Top
It has been raining on and off the last 3 days in Perth. That’s right smack in the middle of my stay here. I leave tomorrow. Today however was a bright sunny day at 7 Degrees. The irony
The last couple of days we braved the weather to Fremantle for the Fish & Chips and spent some time at the docks.
We went to Harbour Town and the usual suspects like Woolies, Coles and & Big W for a little shopping.
We walked in the rain to taste wine, cheese, chocolate, oils and jams.
Most of these planned by my brother and his wife. But the one thing I begged my brother for is Apple Strudel. When I had visited in 2007 for my brother’s graduation, we had a potluck party after to celebrate. His friend had brought the dessert and raved about it.
I am not crazy about apples especially when they are cooked. But when I tried it, it was the best Apple thing I had tasted.
And since then, every time I know someone’s going to Australia, I’d tell them of this Apple Strudel they needed to try. When my other brother went to Melbourne for work and asked what I’d like from there, I told him Apple Strudel. He walked all over town looking for it and that is when we found out it was sold at one shop in Perth.
So this time around, even though time and weather wasn’t in our favour, I begged my brother and SIL to make time to go there. Pretty please, with a Cherry on top..
And so off we went, after my brother had finished work. We had to make it there before it closed at 5pm. We were clapping and cheering that we managed. Came home. Quickly had dinner then got ready for the highlight of the meal.
APPLE STRUDEL
That’s the thing about expectations and 11 years of build up. The more I talked about it, the better it got in my head. It didn’t taste as mind blowing as it did in my memories of it. It was good, but it just didn’t hit the mark. sigh
Good news is, it’s out of my system now. But if you have never tried the Apple Strudel from Corico, please do. I know others who have talked about this apple strudel from Perth. If you do or have tried it, please let me know what you think.. 😊

Wonderful pictures!! I'm sorry it rained while you were visiting. I love strudel. I like the regular cream cheese too. They do have cherry strudel. It has to be fresh though. I am the only one in my house that likes it so I have to eat as much as I can before it goes stale. :) Great freewrite. Have a great day!
oooohhhh.... cream cheese sounds really yummy
this morning at the airport, I actually saw one of the passengers carrying 4 boxes of these strudels...
