FreeWrite: The Love For Fear Gives You Power

You appear strong, smart, right, you wear it with pride
But you are weak, delicate
You shudder and shake, simmer and sway
And all it takes is one word, a look, a gesture, sometimes a non-response
And just like that, you become a storm raging to destroy
You are turmoil, tossing and turning, weaving and rearing, waiting to unleash the wreath that rises in waves
You want to flood, envelope, engulf, drown, strip until there's only empty space
You lord over the lesser, the poorer , the shorter, the weaker
And yet if it is to compare, you flip to own the "er", just to be more no matter
Deep within, you know only too well that you need to embrace, to include, to level
As old as time, over and over you have reeled your ugly to conquer, to own, to devour
And even though you have no right to have all this power bestowed upon you
The fear grips the soul, endorsing the very essence of your erratic nature
And so, in defeat I know, you are within, with a clutch so vigorous, and in return I won't let you go, Ego
