Tears

"Cry if you need to. Please just let us know how to help."

Flo hugged her Dad. Sweet, sweet Dad, always trying to make her feel better. She remembered when she was a young girl, and she had fallen off her bicycle. She started crying and everyone else told her big girls don't cry. Toughen up. But Dad told her Cry, baby girl. Cry away the pain, then we'll try again.

Dad liked rhyming everything. He always joked that if had not been a Dentist, he would have been a rapper. Today, he didn't even know why she was crying. He only knew, he was going to save the day.

Over the years, he had naturally become frail and weak. He spent most of his time in a wheelchair. But his spunk never wavered. He always tried to save the day. Her knight in shining armour. The man who raised two little girls, with love as big as the moon and laughter as loud as crashing waves. Though she missed Mum who had grown her angel wings and fluttered off to heaven when she was only 10, her father did everything in his power to make her life complete.

She was blessed. How many girls are lucky to have two amazing men in their lives. Frank had proposed and she said yes without hesitation. When Frank asked Dad for her hand, Dad actually got out of his chair to give him a hug. From that point on, it was all about the wedding.

Jenny her sister, gifted her the venue. Jenny had always been a bit whimsical but she was the sweetest. She was a bit of a hipster, always wanting to do things differently. But closer to the date, they had realised Dad wasn't going to be able to climb up the steep trail to the peak where they were supposed to exchange vows against the setting sun. The last week, they made numerous calls, trying to figure out the arrangements.

Jenny had just called to tell her that she had finally managed to get a hold of the owner, and he had laughed very loudly first and then told her that the 7 story house overlooking the sea, had a lift that will take Dad all the way up. Her tears, were of joy and elation. At how they had overlooked such an important aspect of the wedding and of relief that it had as Jenny would say, "Don't worry, it will take care of itself."

She hugged her Dad still crying and then burst into laughter. Her Dad joined her, because he would support her either way. Sweet, Sweet Dad.

OK, confession. So this morning, I hit the timer, and out came the following story. It's dark and somewhat disturbing. When I finished the story, because I was in a rush, I posted it and went about my day. But all through my drive to work, and through work and back, I kept thinking about the FreeWrite and I just didn't feel good about it. I had to change it. But we are supposed to go with the first thing that comes. So I have left it at the bottom. If you want to keep the feel good of this story, then don't continue reading :).

This is for @mariannewest's 5 Minute Freewrite. Do check out the other stories inspired by Tears here. And you can stop reading here.....You are not going to, are you? Well I warned you...

Tears

"Cry if you need to. Please just let us know how to help."

No, she didn't need that. She needed to keep busy. She wasn't ready for the tears. That would mean she had to come to terms that she had lost the most precious person in the world to her.

It's true, her sister had been a challenge. She had her moments. There were the good days, she was just like any other "sane" person living a life, she'd even cook Flo's favourite dish to surprise her when she got back from work. At other times, she was completely someone else, angry and violent. Once she had come after Flo with a knife.

Over the years, well wishers had given her all sorts of advise. Sharing phone numbers and contacts that could cure her sister of her "sickness". Some even suggested she was possessed. Get the church to do an exorcism. It is not natural to drink that much water and not sleep. The devil lives in her. She came after you with a knife. It's Satan seeking blood.

Flo tried just about everything out of desperation. Their parents had died in a car crash a long time ago, and that left only the two of them. Even their Aunt who had taken care of them had passed on. Her sister had been absolutely normal and then one day, she wasn't. And then she was in and out. And two days ago, Flo had lost her sister forever.

This too shall pass. She thanked the group that just walked in for coming and went to talk to the undertaker. She'll save it for when she was alone. Alone... yes, that's what she was.

"How many girls are lucky to have two amazing men in their lives."

Very few, in my experience :)

You make me want to try fiction, but I probably will still think about weight loss for each and every prompt!

Weight loss for each and every prompt I think is a bigger challenge
I wonder what you would have done with a prompt like Monkey's Wedding? 😊
Thank you @fitinfun
