Comic Freewrite-"The Jogger"
Comic, a 5 minute Freewrite
This is the freewrite challenge.
I am using @mariannewest’s #freewriteprompt to write this piece
(https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-558-5-minute-freewrite-wednesday-prompt-comic)
Today is 4 days until my hip surgery, someone standing off to the side
would probably find my life to be comic,
But being in it, living it, I don’t find funny.
There are things that happen that are funny in a ‘left handed’ way,
but usually only after the fact.
Yesterday, pulling into the Kroger parking lot, there was a
young man jogging along the sidewalk, going in the same direction as me.
Same speed as well
We came to a cross walk, where there was no STOP sign for me,
the young man suddenly made as if to cut across
in the crosswalk, which would have been bad for me, as anyone in a
crosswalk has the right of way, but being as I
Was only going about 10 mph (much less actually) he wouldn’t have been
hurt. (much anyway)
He clearly thought I had a stop sign, but he stopped before jogging
across my path with a first shocked, then amused look.
Through all this, he never stopped jogging, with his little back pack.
I think he was wearing ear buds.

4 days to surgery
Your self portrait is awesome! "4 days until my hip surgery" - this sounds too much like real life, not fiction. If I kept up with everyone's posts, I'd probably know for sure this is not fiction. BTW, I found this post thanks to @fitinfun, who nominated this for Friday Favorites - check it out!
Thank you @carolkean, it was not fiction, I started my timer and wrote
About real events. Surgery is now three days (May 6th)
Is it SUPPOSED to be fiction? If so, I missed that memo! 😉
Thanks to Sharon @fitinfun too.
No, no, it's not "supposed to be" fiction -- I'm easily confused, that's all. And you look too young to need knee surgery, so there's that, too. And whenever I read something unpleasant or wince-worthy in a freewrite, my first thought is, "I hope this is fiction!" Wishing you well on your surgery!
It's HIP surgery, complete Total Hip Replacement of my right hip
I am too young, but these things happen. Why my right hip?
Why not my left?
Wow!!
Titanium hip, I wonder..?
You may be well on your way to becoming a cyborg. I hope the new hip bone "takes" and you don't suffer any side effects of your body rejecting the "alien" body part. You will do well--I insist you will!
Thank you @carolkean, I appreciate that.
I'm told that forever more, I will have to carry a copy of my xray if
I am traveling via Airliner, when I go through any metal detector.
Wow!! You might set off beeping metal detectors in a courthouse and other places as well. Pacemakers used to be affected by microwaves. I wonder if that's still true. If only the metal body parts gave us special powers. Or at the very least, just didn't inconvenience us. Oh, The small things we take for granted.
