The banisters were the brightest shade of red that I had ever seen.

The walls sort of shimmered when you looked at them.

They were painted in a gold color that had flickering specs in it.

The ceilings were a lime green.

This was the house that my friend's mom had bought when they moved here.

The story was that a drug dealer used to own it....... and that seemed to pan out given the various unusual holes in the walls we would find here and there. Hiding places?

A lot of times people will tell you that a home is a fixer upper. This one definitely was.

Oh it wasn't a bad house by any stretch of the imagination. In fact..... it was a really good deal.

However, it had the most exotic assortment of colored walls, ceilings, banisters, railings, bricks, doorways, and anything else you could imagine that I had ever seen.

Eventually we painted most of the walls and ceilings white.

It was quite a chore because my friend didn't really want to spend any money. That meant that these fixer upper things that had to be done....... had to be done by us.

In the end this house really grew on me.

My friend, his mom, and I all lived here for many years.

It had a nice big backyard with a tall fence. We had one of those outside fireplace contraptions that you could roast marshmallows by.

We would sit a bunch of different chairs out there and everyone would come over and talk and laugh and have fun.

Eventually we even painted a few accent walls different colors like orange and red but they weren't the outlandish colors of the original drug dealer house.

Of course these are memories from the past and everyone hasmoved on now. None of us even know each other anymore...........and I've no idea what the house is like on the inside now.

Still....... sometimes I think about when we first walked into that house.

It was like looking at a terrible kaleidoscope. It was really funny. It was a lot of work to fix it too.

I miss the place. I miss the people. Memories are a good thing but they can also kind of bring you down. You have to think about the future.

The walls where I'm staying now are a nice shade of blue and I don't think I'd really want to change them.

I thought that too but the image really matches the story in a good way though.

As for describing the house.....your gif says it all. Perfect.
As for old friends? I will always cherish the memories.

New friends are silver, old friends are gold, make new friends...... but keep the old.

I remember hearing that during my childhood.

Just one line for you "Creative minds generate creative stories " :)

Love it. Totally makes me think of memories of my childhood, moving into strange new places. Well written :)

Thank you very much.
