Elephant - Freewrite

Every now and then you meet someone that really clicks with you.

It could be a young person. It could be an old person.

It could be a man or a woman or anyone really. Somehow you know that person just really has a similar mindset.

It's about having similar interests whether it be books, music, art, photography, or just about anything else.

Today I recall a situation that happened about 10 years ago in which I met a guy that had similar tastes in music to me.

I listen to Indie stations and a lot of what could be considered alternative rock. I'm not talking about the kind of alternative rock that gets played on most of the stations you hear in your car.

That's actually mainstream rock and they're just throwing around the word alternative in order to make it sound more appealing...... and also because there's not an actual genre that's called mainstream rock.

I had only been working at my restaurant for a few days when I noticed someone listening to a song by group called Elephant.

I was a big fan of that group so I told him and we agreed to exchange numbers.

He even made me a CD so I could listen to some of the songs from different groups that he liked. It was full of all kinds of good music.

Unfortunately he turned out to be kind of a real jerk. He was drunk all the time and he would mistreat his girlfriend but his girlfriend also mistreated him so I guess it worked out in the end for them.

Nevertheless they were a real pain in the butt to hang out with because somebody was always falling all over themselves or throwing up or something and they weren't a good time at all.

In fact the guy was super annoying and I just couldn't stand working with him after a while. Fortunately he ended up transferring to a different restaurant.

I guess if you could get anything out of reading this it should be that just because you have a lot of different things in common with someone doesn't necessarily mean that you will get along.

Interesting morals. The couple probably made the same experience with each other, but it was already too late to split paths.

Such a true moral. I found that to be true over and over again. But people are complicated...

I am the ghost of Christmas Past which is why I'm late delivering today's freewrite prompt!

Its always an awesome feeling when this happens.

I totally agree @jeezzle. You got it just right. Sometimes you even miss what you don't understand about these people, and you ask yourself what you're doing with them in the first place. You have things in common, but the differences are there too. Don't get carried away and lose sight of yourself. Share the ideas, but stick to your rules. Doesn't make them horrible people though, but could make you if you compromise. Thanks for sharing!

It's usually a good idea to compromise.

one an again you write very well the line you write how his girlfriend treated him is really funny to me they both mistreated each other

It was funny at times but it was mostly just really annoying.

I think you are right .There are some people around around the globe whose taste of music ,food etc are same.I have a friend whose music taste is just like me :)

I always love to find someone with similar interests to me.

A lot of people make this mistake of thinking since they have a few things in common with someone, they can be with the person and it doesn't work that way, really.

You're right. A lot of people make that mistake.

Gross. I got a vivid picture of the vomit.

superb creativity
