The saxophone in the alley fills the humidity with purpose. A keen sense of romance and desperation are all Priya can feel at the little fellas who ask daily for her help. She has no time.
Bonzo walks through her sliding glass door. Only sliding glass because it's broken, and he must gingerly slide one broken piece of glass across the other in order to make way for him to enter. The door itself is boarded and locked. The smallest of pebbles falls from his finger.
She's never left Los Angeles. She's never been to a small town, but she's heard people say, "If you live here long enough, even mighty Los Angeles feels like a small town." Well, she's never lived anywhere else, and so, it was bound to happen, the clown from her fourth grade birthday party found her and showed up at her door.
"I need help."
"Of course you do, Bonzo. You've needed help for a long time."
"I- do we know each other?"
"You don't remember me?"
