Calle's phone rang. She glanced at it. "Scam Likely" it said. Oh boy. She answered.
"Hola, depesando de gollandende?"
"No hablo espanol."

They didn't even bother to apologize. Calle looked back up at the freeway. Cars whizzed by her and she hopped up and down. What if what if what if, her ride had passed while she was distracted by the phone? Fate had one ride to offer her, and she wasn't watching when it would have.
She played a game in her head. She wouldn't look at her phone again until 15 minutes had passed. Of course, she wouldn't know when 15 minutes had passed unless she looked at her phone. She'd just start counting, and imagine each number as a second. That'd be 3 times 60 times 5 so 180 times 5 so 900? yes. She started.
Everyone so preoccupied with their phones and now so dependent too!
The phone obsession is a crazy thing people my age just don’t get. I have a phone to make calls, that’s it. No data. I’d never feel the need to be looking things up when I’m away from home
