Flying through the air, the parachutes opening left and right, foomp foomp foomp. Chase felt like racing, like risking it all, and so he fell past them before he opened his... foomp.

Almost too late, hit hit the ground with some speed and broke a leg AAAAG,

But he hit the ground first and didn't die, so he won the game of chicken that only he was playing.
He crawled off to the forest and lay there, scrunching his eyes against the pain.

Candace stood over him when he opened his eyes. "You dumb son of..." She lifted him onto her shoulder and hauled him deeper into the forest. She dumped him carefully, but unceremoniously on the ground by a big GumYum tree, then cut his pant leg to expose the break site. Not a compound fracture, thank god. She pressed the shin until he screamed.
Then she yanked suddenly. He passed out.

When he came to, she was gone, his broken shin was probably close enough to "aligned" and was covered in gumyum sap.
