Jack slipped on the fresh floor wax. He tumbled onto his bottom and slid across the floor and out the door. He picked up speed as he went down the hill. The floor wax heated up and burst into flames. Riding on flaming pants down the steepest hill in Los Angeles, Baxter Street, he finally let out a timid, "meep".

A dog, walking alone, turned to watch him. His tongue lolled out the side of his mouth. So did the dog's.

He hit the intersection at 95 miles per hour. He was aflame. His skin was melting, but not painfully. Not painfully, because it wasn't his skin at all. It was his fake skin. Jack was an alien pretending to be human. He hopped out of the flaming human suit and shook his quizzlocal. A quizzlocal is where these aliens keep their brains. They're basically, just a satchel connected via what seems akin to an umbilical cord.

Alien physiology is not important, thought the dog, who had followed Jack at an easy lope. Jack was still trying to right its brain in its quizzlocal by shaking it like a magic eight ball. The dog pressed the crosswalk button and waited patiently for the light to change, even though traffic had stopped at the sight of an alien, a flaming human suit and a torrent of fresh floor wax coursing down Baxter.
