Comic. Ha ha ha

I read the comics. I do. I even read the ones I don't like. I do.

Do you know which are the worst? Dennis the Menace is pretty terrible. It relies on sexism for a lot of its jokes. His "kids say the darnedest things" schtick is just "his dad talks about people when they aren't there, and his dad is sexist, ageist, and an all around awful person" but that's never addressed. It's no wonder Dennis is a menace. His father is a barely-controlled sociopath... or maybe just a jerk.

Another awful one is 9 chickweed lane. I mean, it's not terrible in the same way, but it's pretty boring. There are occasional cute things with the cat or the man who might also be a god, but for the most part stories get told soooooo slooooowly. And are never knock me over funny

But I guess my mood is to talk about things I don't like. Let's change my mood.

I love Pearls Before Swine and Get Fuzzy and Non Sequitor and Lio and a dozen others. They miss sometimes, but they often hit. I love puns, so you know why I love Pearls Before Swine. And Get Fuzzy for that matter. Lio is just so good at upending assumed character traits. And Non Sequitor has so many great characters. I'm not a big fan of art in comics in general... I mean, I don't hate it, but I rarely care. But sometimes there are some grand pictures in those epic stories. I like those.

Online, I read 3 comics regularly: Somethingpositive.net, xkcd.com, and smbc-comics.com.

The first is a storyline comic. Looking at my preferred comics I'm actually a little surprised by this one. Except I'm not. I read Girl Genius for a while, but it just started to get stale for me. The characters didn't evolve. It seemed like it was always building to something but never got there, and I lost the thread of the story, which I think started with... I don't even remember. Beautiful art, funny characters, but after a while I didn't care about them.

But somethingpositive, I care about the characters. I like Randy Milholland's other work, which he puts out occasionally. He's just got a sense of humor and aesthetic that fits in well with my interests.

Oh, the sound is off, so I didn't hear the timer, but I'm glad I got to tell you about some comics I adore. Ask me about the others if you're interested!
