Quarantine | 5-minute Daily Freewrite by @mariannewest

Year end always puts Jansen in quarantine. When families are planning for family trip and travel, we will be planning how to spend time at home with Jansen, as well as trying to have some time out with Jayden.

The reason of putting him in quarantine is not that he is not well nor is he carrying any form of infectious disease, but we are to protect him from being exposed to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a virus which attacks the lungs and breathing passages, and it is one of the major causes of serious respiratory illnesses in children.

While some children will only suffer some symptoms of cough and stuffy nose, and/or sore throat, a handful of children will experience breathing difficulty to the extend of needing medical support.

As for Jansen, it will be absolutely definitely requiring the support of breathing machine due to him only having one and a half (or lesser than half) lungs, his right lung being the one small in size. Doctors are amazed how his left lung being the main lung functioning at max for his body's oxygenation, not forgetting his heart is doing harder job too than ours.

So yup.

We are at home most of the time. I mean he is at home most of the time. And he would imagine himself at a cosy playland or hotel some sort by tweaking a little the living hall, making it looks like hotel. He said so.

I am still freaking proud of him being very jovial and bubbly despite the pain and complication he is having. Our proud champion CDH survivor! :)
