5 Minute Freewrite Day 174 - 'We're Vandals'

Vandals -

Vandals.
Hoodlums.
Reckless idiots.
We're supposed to be stewards.
Marshalls.
But we treat this place like a tip.
Fly-tipping,
Scales-tipping.
Things becoming unbalanced.
Harmony -
Disharmonised.
Impending doom seemingly
Unrecognized.
One way track -
Rollercoaster of despair.
Straight to our demise.
Just gotta try.
Gotta try to stop dumping our waste into the Earth that we live on.
Millions of tonnes of plastic that float in the sea.
Deep down,
We all know -
That isn't where it's supposed to be.
The Earth needs to breathe.
But we choke her with our fumes and the production of petrol.
We drain her veins of the oil within,
Blind to the destruction of it all.
Or maybe just selectively blind.
Choosing just convenviently not to see,
The way she bleeds,
The release we need.
So we carry on.
Vandalising.
Disrespecting.
Ruining.
Repeating.
We carry on.
We're still on that same scary ride,
Keep your hands and arms inside,
Because if we keep going on like this,
We may just...
Die.
Oh my.
That'd be sad.
I'd have to question,
Why?
Because we have what we need to heal the air that we breathe.
We have all the power to change things this hour.
Changing our thoughts is where we begin.
Then we change the way we talk about things.
And finally,
when we've done all that,
We all take action toward creating our dreams.
