Freewrite prompt: See You On the Other Side

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

It's been 5 years. Brandon was still very mad, angry and mostly devastated. His mom got a mysterious sickness 5-6 years ago and her body suddenly deteriorated fast. He was just graduating from college that time.

They were not a well-to-do family. His father tried his best to get the ends meet and also to find extra, money for the medical bill. When the mom went into an unconscious state, they had to put her on machines support and it didn't help when she was frequently in and out of ICU too. Finally, she ended up in a vegetated state.

Brandon's dad still took care of her everyday, wiping her body and talking to her, despite his busy schedule. Brandon was too sad to keep seeing her, so he sort of trying to escape by being busy.

After a year of hospitalization, the doctor said there really was nothing they could do and asked Brandon's dad if he wanted to pull out the life support. He was in a great dilemma. His son was not around and he was barely contactable.

Finally, he received a dream from his wife and he did it, with much reluctance, kissing her goodbye with tears streaming down his face. Brandon was not there.

Since then, Brandon started blaming his dad. He went to a certain extent to blame God for taking his mom away. He blamed the support group of pastors and church friends who went through this turmoil with them but kept asking them to have faith. He hates church, he call them hypocrites. He hates his dad, no matter how much he tried to reach out to him to show he still loves him. His dad bought him a brand new car when he said he wanted. His dad let him enroll into music school.

Brandon was seriously going nowhere with that state. He couldn't complete anything he had started. So, he blamed God even more and called himself the devil's advocate. He always texts his dad and swears at him. He makes sure he worries his dad and revenge on him by telling his dad he wants to kill himself. His dad was always speechless and said he still loves him and he didn't know what else to say.

But....

Now, he learnt that his dad is also having some kind of sickness. He thought he didn't care at first, but his heart can't lie to him.

One night, he received a dream.. In the dream he saw a white glorious figure coming to him. He said he wanted to introduce someone to him. It's his late mom! She looked happy, loving and relieved.

She said this to him, "Son, I know you love me. I also know it was your regret you didn't get to tell me before I left but I know it all along. Stop blaming your dad. He loves you the best he knows. It's not his fault he pulled off the life support. I told him to. We had no money and I am heartsick to see how hard he worked and took care of me. You must ask him about the last dream he had before that happened."

"Now, don't let another regret consume you by fighting with him. Let him know you love him if that's something you may regret about. I love you, always and I will see you on the other side."

She hugged Brandon and he cried waking up from his dream.

I took an extra 1-2 minutes today because I'm actually writing a real life story except that I added the ending I want to see. There is this guy that my husband and I know of and are working with who went and is still going through this. The story is real but the name isn't. We appreciate prayers for him if you can. He is a broken life, so wanting to be loved and yet rejects all the love. He is like in a vicious cycle of blaming and cursing God actually but weirdly, he still find my husband when he wants to do this, knowing my husband is a pastor. We may not know everything and have every answer but we are called and all we do is simply responding to a calling. He thinks my husband has some wisdom and he is probably shocked that this pastor is not all defensive when someone else is mocking the God we are worshipping. Their conversations are very interesting and provoking. My husband is known to be able to challenge people's thoughts and he is not apologetic in his preaching. He uses Brandon's belief to challenge him. The thing is whether we love God or not, He still loves us because He knows it's a need we have. He is not that insecure that if someone curse or swear at Him, it will make him withdraw His love. Now, I bless this soul with a deep healing of his heart.

Anyway....

howdy from Texas happycrazycon! first of all this was an amazing story even if you took a couple of extra minutes with it, it would take me an hour to write that thing! seriously.

The other thing is that I just found out today that you sent me 3 steem for a new chair! I didn't know who sent it and couldn't find that information but ecoin told me about it because he asked me to send that to him today so I did that, so thank you so much. I have the new chair now and it's very comfortable!

Also, I see that you are a Pastor's wife! What a calling..what kind of church do you pastor? God bless you guys!

Okay this story actually bugged me in my soul to know of someone in life being like that. Maybe that's why it came out of my fingers fast this time because we were just praying for him before bed last night.

Hahaha I am so glad you got your chair @janton. I went over to your post about it and found that your dog loves it very much too. Most welcome and really, it wasn't a big amount but I wanted to make sure your backache is gone and you get a decent chair so I chipped in a little after reading @ecoinstant's post. He's just so kind to do that for you! I love reading of the gems here on Steemit :)

Hahaha yeah I'm a pastor's wife, a very young pastor he is. We are not of any particular denomination, but perhaps the charismatic protestant. Having said that, we too aren't affiliated with the denominations in the country. We are just a local church, believing in the Bible and relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, a small part of the Body, by large. So, what kind of church do you attend? :)

I love this happycrazycon! it seems that all i do on here is run into faith people and not the weak kind either but very on fire kind, it's wonderful!

Mrs. J and I are also charismatic so that is even more rare to find! wow there is no escaping now that I found you, just want to warn you about that! Praise God.

We are going to a country church which is Spirit-filled and charismatic, it's more of a Cowboy church, have you heard of those? lol. The Pastor specializes in the Grace message. but we are many things, full Gospel, believe in authority and healing, those are probably what sets us apart from most other Believers.

God bless you guys! you'll see me around. Oh..what does your username mean?

Wow, it sounds like what we are subscribing to too! Spirit filled, authority in healing and deliverance, Grace centered message. Would love to visit a country church one day if I get the opportunity!!!

My username simply means happy + crazy + Connie (Con) :) it was just a name I used for my email since I was 13 and I use it till today! Nice connecting with you @janton :)

ahaha! A well known Evangelist said once that all you need is 2 crazy friends! she was talking about walking in victory but it helps a great deal if you have some BOLD friends who will stand and fight with you!

so you are probably still a little crazy but in a good way! in a bold, spiritual way. love what you guys stand for! God is great at connecting people.

What is it like in your country as far as beliefs, predominately Christian?

hey here is a post I did about the local Cowboy churches here in Texas, you might get a kick out of it and your husband as well!

https://steemit.com/christianity/@janton/the-intriguing-growth-of-texas-cowboy-churches

Hahahaha crazy is good! I haven't been any crazy much lately but this handle I chose certainly reminds me of that. I chose this name before I became a Christian at 13, but I accepted Jesus at 14 from a non-Christian's family. Since then I never turn back and went on cos Jesus is too good!!! :)

I'm definitely checking the post out because I actually quite like country songs and what would be a better place to have country songs than a country church? Lol.

I'm in Malaysia. It is quite a restricted Muslim country when it comes to "religion". However, we are thankful to God we can still worship freely within the church premise and also at home, besides also having street evangelism tactfully. At least, we aren't forced and we can still have some freedom in our choices. We have a constitution that we cannot preach freely outside of church. There are weird happenings like pastor's got abducted and many debates on the name of God politically. As for the other churches, we are co existing quite happily together :) It is still a lovely country to be in!

howdy this fine Monday night happycrazycon! well your country does not sound too bad as far as cracking down on Churches and things like China so I'm glad to hear that.
Do you have a regular church building?

Yeah we do meet in a regular shoplot. Not one with a building by itself but we rent a lot. Haha yes, our situation here aren't too bad or oppressed if I should say. I know how China ones are like.

How about your username, @janton?:)

Posted using Partiko Android

haha! oh well good to see you back so soon happycrazycon! mine is boring, it;s just the first initial of my first name and then my last name. The usernames on here are so clever! I wished I could have thought of a clever one. oh well.

Hahaha but I like your handle! It's easy to rememebr :) simple is nice!!! Yeah there are a whole lot of interesting handles here but some, I don't remember much :P

Posted using Partiko Android

oh I know..some are very complex and hard to remember with numbers and everything. well Lynncoyle nick named me Jibber Jabber Janton and that fits pretty well! lol.

Hahaha that's very sweet too! Lol.

Those visits from the other side are quite special! Thank you for sharing this beautiful story, I pray that he finds the peace in his heart and soul to move forward. There is nothing worse than a spiteful soul. Beautiful write Happy!! I was glad to see you pop up on my feed this evening. Have a glorious day!

Hey faith!!! It is good to see you :) thank you for praying along with us. It is just a difficult place he is in and still struggles to "fight" because of the dismay and anger. Hope you are well :) I miss seeing you around too!

I was touched by this story. Sadly, there are many people like Brandon. They can’t deal with tough situations, they could turn to drugs and other bad things. I have great respect for pastors, social workers, mentors, who can help them. Great post @happycrazycon 😊

Your post really got me straight at the heart. And now I understand why as it is based on a real story of your friend. My heart goes to him for not being able to find peace for himself. It is only when he does, the pain will be gone and the joy & love will overflow him.

But until then, it’s only pain, regret & fear... I’m afraid.
But thanks to both Daniel & yourself... being patient with him all this time.
